Does everyone simply use a coin to signify you owe ball, or am I the only one to mix it up?

A simple way to keep track of owed balls is to use the diamonds. One diamond from the center of the foot rail means you owe one, next you go to the side rail and the first diamond there means you owe two and from there you just move the coin one diamond at a time up the side rail. This way you only have to use one coin for balls owed and not several. It works!

I have found that that system doesn't always work depending on who your opponent is. That coin mysteriously seems to change it's position every once in a while. In those games I prefer multiply coins.
