One Pocket Lessons From The Greatest

..aaaah, I see, since you've already called your pocket, any shot made by either player
on any ball or set of balls pocketed in any form in your called pocket count, some what
like 9 ball, thanks Jack, great instructions.

It is very difficult to find anyone who plays one pocket in my city.
When people ask me "what is one pocket ?" I respond by telling
them it is a lot like 8 ball....except for adults.

All I see after 6pm in my local pool room are APA players
with the pool room etiquette of chimps in a zoo.

Tom's book has helped me immensely.

That post reminds me of something I heard once about "ignorance is bliss".

Methinks you just shot yourself in the foot with that salvo.
That is Jack Potter in his Don Rickles mode.

...if it wasn’t so long, I would use it on my sig line....:rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:

$500 for instruction on that game, one pocket, PLEASE. You can shoot
any ball on the table, your target is already decided, and you don't
even have to call how you are going to make it. In 8 ball you have
to figure out which ball to shoot and which pocket to shoot it in, for
crying out loud, and on top of all that if your opponent gets a ball close
to his pocket you knock it away. Talk about dirty chicken---- pool,
that takes the cake. You wouldn't do that crap but once in Steves Club
buster. That game is for beginners, and sissy's. Count me out I'll stick
to real man's pool.
jack

Now, THAT'S funny!!:rotflmao: I've heard the same nonsense about Straight Pool.

Do you have a list of committed guys for the DALLAS location, Dean?

I’m in - as long as we have firm dates very soon so schedules can be worked and committed.

Write me down on that list.

PM me for anything else you need.

I’d like to see Tom chime in on this thread as well so we know he is at least interested

What do you say, Dean?

Wish I was closer so I could. I have the book and have had it for a while. I don't get out to play much at all anymore, for a lot of reasons. I have a bunch of stuff on One Pocket including copies of ALL Grady Matthews's articles from Billiards Digest. It's hard for me to stay at the table long enough to get in some decent practice at the game by myself.

Black balled

you talkin to me?
i might not play anymore, you are right about that

but not because i don't want to

if i go to the pool room,i like to play

if i go to the pool room,i like to play

Take a vacation and come to Florida sometime. Take a solo/private lesson with Tom...spar and talk pool with him. It'll be a great Day(s) in the Life.

Dean

Keep us informed.

I am very interested in attending.

Tom Tom is a great One Pocket Instructor.

Thank you for doing this

For you to be at this gathering makes a great statement of Who’s in the house. It’s going to be an exciting event.

I am glad to see you are interested
your pool school has really been a help to
a lot of people

I wish I had gotten the basics down and developed the skills neede to play really good

Its funny to even think about you coming to take one pocket lessons

But when I consider that one pocket is truly the chess game of pool
it only makes sense to learn from Tom

thank you for you post I am sure that it should encourage others to get involved

The schedule is sometime in april for now,Tom has some obligations back home
we will schedule for sure soon

if you guys want to come
post your desire on here

we have some interesting people already talking
about it

exhibition ,playing lessons,private
it is all covered with the $500 entry

over at my house on the Mark Gregory built Centennial

No jump shots or masse

Dean, is this gonna be a one or two day event? Also, I haven't checked on the dates but are you scheduling this to make sure it doesn't conflict with SBE in any way? Thanks !

To give you a straight answer I don't know what the SBE is
when is it?
Dean

Tom said the 3rd or 4th week of April

I was thinking 1 day would be fine but tom wants to give everybody
as much as he can ,including person instruction
2 or even 3 days would be available, everybody getting some 1 on 1

I am looking forward to having a lot of fun, learning and actually
interacting with not only tom but also the players

I admit I mainly play for action ,but i really enjoy playing around
talking shots and ideas with guys that like to share

I have only gotten to do that a few times other than when sweating a game

Once Billy Incardona batted some balls around with me,showed me some shots
Billy Stroud spent an hour or two showing me shots, jersey Red took an hour or two

joe salazar took timebut these were all too quick

nonetheless I treasured the times

i am sure that most of you guys haven't had the opportunities i have had

This Tom wirth thing will be lasting memories as well as instruction

It was fun, that is why I think this Tom Wirth visit will be great,I look forward to paying my $500
so I can feel good about getting him to show me the overall game strategy,as well as a few specific shots

Let’s get something set up Dean so we can all plan ahead - unless you want to take the “Surprise! Tom is here in 15 minutes, everyone!” approach and see who shows up with BBQ and the

Dean, it's the Super Billiards Expo held outside Philly April 12-15. This is one of the most popular events everyone goes to every year ( second to maybe even DCC, except for us East Coast folks where it's probably #1 ). Just curious because if you were to schedule at the same time you would for sure loose a large pool of potential people to it. Thanks again

Is this the same as the Alenn Hopkins

i never get out of the house ,dallas

i kept thinking i would go to the derby but i never made it

I hear greatstories about both of these things

Perhaps Tom would be better here a week later, but really we are only talking about 6 people
and they will most likely be locals

But it would be good to meet guys from

around the country

by the way this is not a thing for beginners only,or even mainly

This Tom Wirth teaching will start where most instructors never get to

Yes, this is Hopkins event I'm talking about. I know I'm definitely going to SBE but your thing sounds really cool and I'm kinda kicking around the idear. I know you said it's at your house and may be multi day - you are not providing lodging are you lol? I assumed this was not a beginners type thing, at least hoped not. Doubtful at a nickel a piece and with it being one hole specific . Just looked it up, your right around the corner from me - roughly 1200 miles lol. The distance really doesn't matter to me, it's more about my schedule and availability. It would be awesome to get instruction from Tom Tom of course but it would be equally interesting to play you some ( with all the ship you talk about how bad you are lolololol)

Ps, also I just bought a bunch of cues and cases and am close to deciding which one will be my player. If the one I'm on now I need to send both shafts to cue maker to get work done and " would REALLY " think I could have them back in time
