In most action games there are certain rules that have to be agreed upon before playing.What is the way most games you have seen played? I am not interested in how small friendly game rules are played ,but action games say minimum $100 a game.

1) 3 foul
2)touching the line or base of ball
3)cue ball fouls only
4) knock ball off the table
5)push shot -what exactly is a push shot
6)push shot when cueball is frozen to the object ball
7)snooze you lose on owed balls
8)accidental moving of object balls not in the immediate area of the actual shot
9)interfearace by a non player that causes the shooter to make a mistake as when a passing sweater bups into a shooter causing him to mess up

Most of the matches I play in, and also most of the games I've watched, follow the standard rules as published by onepocket.org:

The "snooze you lose" situation doesn't come up too much if coins are placed on the end rail to indicate balls owed.

I've seen a few places with different house rules on number 2, but everything else you mention is pretty standard every where I've ever been.

That said, there are always going to be exceptions, and I would never discourage clarifying rules before getting into a game.

The only rules not widely accepted or known about are the more obscure rules for situations that very rarely come up. For example, I once saw a player scratch who didn't have any balls to spot, and all of the balls were in the kitchen. Neither player knew the rule (ball closest to the line spots), and they ended up in quite an argument.

Who will break? Winner? Loser? or break apiece?
I like breaking in rotation and both breaking to the same pocket.
That way you know who broke last. This also evens the game up if one side favors the other.

I like to play ALL ball fouls in 1pocket because there MUST be a penalty for touching/moving balls. It's too easy for less than honest players to "accidentally" brush a ball thats dead for your hole with thier hand, then say....should I put it back? besides that we always play the whole ball must be over the line....alternate break unless otherwise specified....and slept scratches/owed balls are gone if you miss em.

when cb and ob are frozen stroke normally (this is a standard pool rule.
if someone hits my stick when they walk by I'm setting it back up and shooting again or you aren't getting paid.
