One pocket

If you are interested in a tournament variation for one pocket go to one pocket.org and read BreakandRun one pocket.

I think it matters a lot if you play 1 pocket yourself. You have to understand the game to appreciate it. Ask any non-pool player how they like watching *any* pool game. Its paint drying to them. Ask a Formula1 fan what they think of Nascar. Same result :)

I LOVE TO WATCH POOL.BUT I WOULD RATHER WATCH PAINT DRY THEN WATCH ONE POCKET.WONDERING HOW OTHERS FEEL?:boring!

I would rather watch one pocket than any other game. When two high level players are playing each other, I find little else in life as compelling.

Dave, play it on a bar table.

I LOVE one pocket on a bar box, and you talk about action, every shot is offensive and defensive.

Great game.

Rack 10 and first one to 5 (15 is too cluttered)

10 balls?
One-pocket with 9 balls is a good game.
One-eyed Jesse from Detroit showed me a great break for this game.

It's just an odd break with 9 balls, I know the break, scratch that, I believe I know the break you are talking about.

10 balls leaves the formation just like a normal 15 ball rack, and you can do 1 of 3 breaks that make the game incredibly fun and fast paced.

You have to understand the game of one pocket to appreciate it. Theres an opening, mid, and end game to it. Each requires different strategies and approaches. Its a very in depth game and to the casual observer, it looks like they're pushing balls around playing nothing but safeties. I didn't appreciate and understand one pocket until I read ''Winning One Pocket'' by Eddie Robin. I highly recommend the book.

I don't think that helps to sell the game.;)

Could you tell me another game that is more popular than soccer?

And, like one-pocket, kicking is an important skill...
...and you get to use you head once in a while.

The only team sport I ever liked.

If god had wanted man to play one pocket, he'd have made tables with only one pocket.

Rumor is .... in the beginning he did, but then he wanted me to scratch more, so he added more pockets.

Straight pool is my favorite game by a very slim margin to one pocket, but I'd far rather watch 1 pkt than straight pool for any length of time.

Now.... 9 and 10 ball? Geeezuss, those are redundant monotonous games. Ironically, perhaps the most creative part of those games are the safety aspects of them. The very thing most don't enjoy about 1 hole. Go figure. :)

Actually, according to George Fels, there used to be 5 x 10s with only two pockets at the foot of the table.

Was that in the current issue of BD? I think I saw that somewhere.

OK, so one pocket players can count to two.....but it that takes a day away from playing the game.:p

OOps, wrong thread.

If you are talking about two guys in the pool room who don't know what they are doing ad every ball end up up the table then Yes.
If they are some of the new bread of players who are aggressive and creative and will shoot, there is nothing better.

To each his own. Me, I find the rotation games very boring. They guy doesn't get good on the next shot, there is no chance taken in the way of making a difficult shot, just another safety. Excecuting safties takes skill no doubt about it, but still boring IMO.
