One Pool Shot for ONE MILLION - How Would You Handle the Pressure???

I'd take a drink of whatever, calm my thoughts and change them to some idiot that I can't stand with a loud mouth just said I can't make this shot for $50. Then, I'd get down, shorten my bridge for paramount accuracy, be very careful with my fundamentals, and shoot it in the hole.

Someone needs to make a movie about Earl the Pearl Strickland! that movie would have ups and downs and be hilarious and very serious at the same time.

I think you may have just come up with the next infusion for increasing the popularity of/for pool.

The Earl Strickland Story....Through His Own Pearly Whites.

I just want to know who had the "Cahones " to stand inline with earls million $ shot and take a picture:eek:, this story may have had a different ending had he missed that ball cause of a flash or somthing. That probably wouldve been the moment Earl became the Earl we know (and still love) today.
Earl was a different guy then (mentally) and he probably wasnt concerned , and there had to be a 50 people around the table , but still.

me, i wouldnt have taken the sissy combo, id back cut bank the 1 and run out
Tronpocket --------- ( hates money)

No flash in that photo, you can tell by the shadows of the balls.

Hey! Is Earl using a touch of inside there?
Great photo...thanks for posting it.

as we get older our "master eye" sometimes alters it's dominance.

Wow, look at that look on Earls face, Man he knew he was going to make it!

CJ i just noticed that Earls cue is off center to the right of his chin, has he always played like that? or WAS IT FOR THIS SHOT ONLY?

If so, i cant beleive i never really notice it before!

Yes, his cue was always positioned like this and as we get older our "master eye" sometimes alters it's dominance. Earl and I discussed this last time we talked and he had to change slightly to accommodate this {change} and urged me to check it out as well. (he actually made the change in his stance, and this effected where his cue was relative to his right eye)

I've recently had to change the "slot's center" in my stroke, which I thought was more about extra weight and now I'm discovering it's actually visual. It's always best to change these things with your feet position first, and this creates a chain reaction that moves your cue/eye position.

Just a "hair" of difference in perception requires an adjustment, it's interesting, I'd have to talk to an eye specialist to get the right information about the specifics.

I We also have the two matches on film that Earl and I played in that tournament, it's "atomic 9 Ball" and we should have it up in the next couple of days. It's a Televised tournament that I produced so it still have the original commercials which is pretty cool.

This is the shot in the 10th Game for Earl Stickland to win the Million Dollar Challenge - One Shot for One Million - How would you hold up under the pressure? I'm guessing only 50% of us would even hit the 9 Ball, unless it was on the right "shake".

He fired it in like he was just banging balls-amazing. There was zero hesitation. I dont think anyone else who has held a cue would have shot that shot like he did-well maybe Ronnie O'Sulliavan would hit it like that, yeah he would as well, so 2 guys in history would do that, anyone else would pause for a moment.

EDIT: adjusted for inflation thats about like 2 to 2.5M these days, cant forget that!!!!!!!!!

I was talking to Kelly last night driving back from Vegas she told me she heard in a Kid Rock song a lyric that says "Earl the Pearl". I dont recall the whole lyric, i'll get the song name for you. I dont know Earl and not sure if he knows about it, its my understanding he doesn't like that name very much. It is cool he is in a song. I only have spoke to Earl a couple times very briefly, always was cool to me. If I knew him i'd ask him myself.

I have always enjoyed watching Earl when he is happy and in gear, there is nothing like it. that tall gear is beyond reach for anyone IMO.

as much as i hate commercials, I love them 20-30-40 years later in old video, brings me back to that time, where the pool looks the same. funny how that works.

Pressures a funny thing for sure, it makes some guys shake and others just do what they got to do and thats it, doesnt bother them in the least, its amazing.

Me, i probably would have lined the shot up and stroked and fired and the cue would have ripped the felt up under the cue ball which would be air born and probably cracked the guys head who was taking the picture. :D

Earl's' going on tour in Thailand next month.

I talked to Earl Stickland's booking agent yesterday and Earl's' going on tour in Thailand next month***. They are saying this could lead to some really big things there, and they just booked Earl SOLID for the remainder of the year (he has one opening the week after the US OPEN).

I just watched one of the matches from the MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE tournament between Earl and I......it's amazing how good Jimmy "Pretty Boy" Mataya was at commentary. He's so entertaining, there's so many classic quotes he said during the match........priceless.....

I heard he was going to Germany this summer. That was the rail talk there a couple months ago. They love him there.

Ewa Mataya doing a Brunswick commercial that's classic.

We're editing the match right now, we'll be sure to leave in some of the commercials. We have Ewa Mataya doing a Brunswick commercial that's classic.

Anyone that wants to see this video we will have it up at www.cjwiley.com

ALSO today's the last day of the $4.95 special to see ALL my instructional videos. We had a great response, however, that price was just supposed to be for a couple of days.

We're also putting together a $1 PPV deal for those that just want to hand pick video clips for 24 hours.

Earl the pearl in the kid rock song is about Earl Monroe the basketball player, I had to look that one up a few years ago.

I would have lined up like I'm about to crush the shot with an open bridge then cock way back and purposefully whiff the entire cue ball with full extension.

Huge crowd reaction and its okay because it was just a warm up stroke.

EMINEM will do a song about Earl Stickland one day

Maybe EMINEM will do a song about Earl Stickland one day. :D

Maybe one day Earl will stop spotting Eminem the orange crush in the overall talent dept.
