I understand there are a few that were chosen as part of the 150 that will not be participating. I was just curious if there is a list of names? Does anyone know who, or why in the world someone would give up the honor that thousands of people are clamoring for???

Go to WWW.internationalpooltour.com

They posted that Ronnie O'Sullivan had contractual obligations. Do any of the other dropouts make anything near what O'Sullivan does?

Bill O - At the 5 Ball

I was told by Tommy Kennedy today there are 16 spots open, These are no going to be filled with Qualifiers.
I am sure this will be confirmed later in the week.

Hmmm, our email says there are 8 spots. Not sure who they are, except for Steve Lipsky who got a job and posted on here. Ronnie O was given an exception and KT has said he is going to be lenient, so that means that Santos, Potier, Johl Younger and Quinten Hann and the Australians - John Wimms, David Reljic and Joe Minici may still be in it.

They are really stressing how grueling it is physically and if you don't think you can withstand playing all day, that it's ok to give up your spot - as if! I am thinking Buddy Hall might have given up his - it was hard for him just to get to the venue. But I really can't see him giving up the money. Guess we shall see soon enough.

Everyone, if you think you have what it takes, I urge you to scrape up, beg, borrow, or steal (no, not steal) the $2000 and play in a qualifier. It is worth easily a 100 times that over the next few years. Oh yeah, and don't forget that Linda Carter referred you! LOL :D

where is the info about the qualifiers and needing the $2000 to get in???

I can see it on their site?

Not yet, I don't think. This info was from an email from Deno to members. They are planning the qualifiers in January, so you will be ready to play in the first tournament in Feb.

$200 will come out of the entry fees as direct referrals to whomever referred you. If no one referred you, the $200 will be distributed equally to all IPT members.

$2,000 entry for at least 8 slots with guaranteed minumum $7,000 return.

Not to mention that the qualifiers here probably stand a very good chance of making the top100 in 2006 and so be guarateed US$100,000 minumum.

So the 8 or possibly more who go through will probably share in well over to US$1million in winnings as a result of getting in. It's easily worth US2K for a sniff at that money / career if you're a decent player.

I already spent my 2k plus travelling to a meeting!

Don't forget to refer Linda ....spelt...C..o..l..i..n...C..o..l..e..n..s..o...:p

Wow, it is already a pyramid scheme? Did he also asked you to try to get your local billiard room to use IPT products like chalk or whatever or get you to sell videos and you get a few bucks for every order that comes through your referral? Be honest.

Heckler, I just got back from the post office and sent you the CD and program via Global Express.

Hope you enjoy listening to the CD entitled "Kevin Trudeau Speaks." It explains quite a bit about the IPT tournament trail. The KOTH program is pretty cool, too, a nice little pool memorabilia to keep! :)

A couple players in my neck of the woods are intending on participating in the upcoming qualifier, and they too are eagerly looking for any and all information pertaining to this event.

Wish I had grabbed more of those CDs, as they were free for the taking. I have now given out about a dozen or so to prospective players and industry members around the world.

Wishing you the very best, Heckler, and may you play well and get yourself a spot on the tour in 2006. Good luck!

It's not a pyramid scheme. That would require members to recruit other members who would recruit other members etc with pyramiding commissions.

The IPT members are invited to get the word out about qualifying events and can make a small profit of 10% for referals.

Regarding product sales, it was said that a commission of profits would go to IPT members. And though I don't know the details in full, it seems possible that IPT members may have the opportunity if they wish to act as distributors / sales agents.

These are voluntary options and make sense. Also, the idea that product sales and some revenues accrued would go to members seems generous and puts in place a sensible incentive system.

Let me repeat that I am not familiar with all the details of this, but it seems positive from any angles I examine from.

I thought it cost $1000 to try out for the qualifier.
I believe $1000 will be the entry for other qualifying events such as for the US Open and World Open events with 50 spots up for grabs for a chance to win 2 and 3 million respectively in prizes. There is also the 2007 Tour Qualifiers with 50 spots available with $1000 entry.

But I think these event qualifiers will be spread across various qualifying events so that only 2 qualify from each event.

Whereas this upcoming qualifier seems to be ONE event with at least EIGHT spots up for grabs. Hence the higher qualifying entrance fee. This should limit it to serious players.

I'm hoping it will be a pretty exhaustive round robin system such that players will get plenty of frames (50+) to prove themselves in each round.

One idea is to have groups of 16 round robin races to 3 with the top 8 going through. Qualifiers are then advanced according to win / loss percentages to spread them evenly into further groups of 16, where the top 8 go through.

Field could go 128 (8 groups) - 64 (4 groups) - 32 (2 groups)- 16 (1 group) - 8 final qualifiers in 4 rounds.

Just my idea.

I'm keenly waiting on details but having not got an invite originally I decided to go back to the real world and get a job lol. But still, any idea on dates/venue yet ANYONE?

Colin,
I really hope that all the qualifying events are fair to the players stumping up 1-2k, and as you said the only fair way to do this is round robin. If this is the case I will try to attend as many as possible :)

The idea of incentivizing players has to do more with profit SHARING. KT could have just kept all the entries himself. Yes, as players for the IPT we will be representing IPT products, just as I represent Viking and Talisman's products as their ambassador. And every member is compensated. More to those that do a little more personal 'work'.

Thanks Jam, I look forward listening and reading what you sent.

I am pretty sure I will be going to the qualifier so I am already practising hard...just awaiting confirmation of all the details.

Will this qualifying event for the 8 open spots be open to anyone? Or is it open only to those who submitted their applications a few months ago but were not selected for the first 150 players?

Sorry I didn't cover that before. This will be open to anyone and again, it is for a tour card for the 2006 season, NOT the qualifiers for the US and World Opens which will only qualify you for those tournaments, respectively. If you win the qualifier for those, they are only good for those tournaments, not a full year tour card.

There will be a new application on the IPT website (www.internationalpooltour.com) just for this qualifier. Keep checking all week. I am not sure if it will be one big qualifier or several with the top 2 going from each. Good luck and that is L-i-n-d-a C-a-r-t-e-r in the referral space. (Colin, that was for you!) Seriously though, refer any member that you would like to see get the $200 or leave it blank and everyone shares in it.

Most importantly, good luck!!!!;)

Linda
