A friend of mine asked me the other day which cue I'd recommend for him in the $600ish range. He says he only cares about the hit, not points, diamonds etc. In other words a player rather than a looker. I came up with a few names (mainly SPs), but any recommendations you guys might have would be welcome :)

Thanks,
J

You literally have hundreds of choices in that price range, obviously there are some great deals here on the forum in the for sale section.

I agree with BB that your friend needs to go and play with several different styles of cues and see what he likes, stainless joint, wood to wood, wrapped, wrapless, etc.

Do you have a local pro shop or pool hall where he could try out some cues, some gracious players may let him hit a few balls with their cues.

Remember to budget in a nice case and some goodies.

For the money I am biased towards 80's to mid 90's Joss cues, most are monster players and are inexpensive to buy and are plentiful on ebay but thats just my opinion and what I play with.

I have seen some Scruggs SP's go for around $600. They are hard to come by plus it's a great hitting cue.

Agreed if he is looking for hit alone TS sneaky pete.

Your friend may be interested in the same cue I use, the KF2 from my own line of cues - kwikfire, real nice solid hitting. Made in NC. $510 shipped brand new. PM if interested, as I dont know how to insert images on this site!!!!

Can somebody tell me how to do this ?

I guess for my money, I'd buy a Schuler.

how cool is that you ask what kind of cue to get and 2 pros answer, IMHO Carolina's hit lights out so maybe you should look at the Kwikfire cues.

Schon cues play real well, you could probably find one here on AZ for that kind of price.

cue

John, could you please post a link to the cue you are using? My friend is a big fan of yours and I know he would appreciate it:)

Like some of you my first thought was a TS SP or something simple with an OB-1 shaft as that's what I play with...

Cheers,
J

I would recommend a cue built by Richard Neighbors.High quality work for a reasonable price and delivered when promised.

KF2 image attached possibly :embarrassed2:

Sorry guys, please be patient with me.

Any Schon, Jacoby or Pechauer will be great choices!!
Personally I would go for a $400 cue and add a Predator shaft..... ;)

You did it Kelly! Nice looking cue. Got a link for where your line is offered? I did a quick Google of Kelly Fisher Cues, but that was no go (after my 67 second attention span expired, lol)
