I'm really liking my classic shaft , not sure if I am liking the Everest tip they put on it, I don't want to try out 10 different tips so I thought I would ask some opinions.
Opinion, OB Classic shaft what tip works best on it?

I hate Everests - it's annoying that they come as standard on so many shafts.
I have an OB Classic Pro and had a Kamui Black Medium on it for a while, but switched to a Kamui Black Soft which I preferred (although both worked well enough).
Contrast that to my Pred Z2 where I play with a Kamui Black Soft but feel like I should probably move up to a Medium.

An UltraSkin, would be a good choice. Either soft, or medium.
Then again, if you want to go with the very best get the new FourSkin II, from Steamer Cue Sports Ltd. You can't beat them. :smile:

I've only ever played with Everest on my Predator and OB shafts because that's what they used. Was there ever a reason given for this being their standard? I always thought because it was the best combination for the shaft....There must be a reason other than money right? Love to know!
I like Tiger Emeralds on OB Pro shafts. (Formerly known as OB Classic Pro -- why on Earth did OB change the name? But I digress...)
The Everest is, well, okay, but it tends to glaze pretty quickly, even with a good chalking regimen in the PSR.
The Emerald, by way of comparison, doesn't glaze and is a pretty grippy tip at a very attractive price (about four or five bucks a tip, not including installation).
Speaking of which, whoever replaces your tip on the OB Pro (formerly Classic Pro), make sure they maintain the carbon-fiber pad during the install!

I have a stock OB1 with the Everest tip. When I ordered a Classic I had OB put a Kamui Black Medium on it.
Nothing against the Everest tip; I was just more familiar with the hit of Kamui tips. When it comes time to replace the tip on the OB1 I think I'll go with Kamui Black Soft.

The preferred tip, hardness, etc. is all over the map. Some areas love Moori's, some love Kamui's, and many love all different kinds. Some areas like soft tips, other areas like hard tips, and on and on.
There is no one tip that will be preferred by even a small majority of our customers.
We choose the Everest for a number of reasons. I would expect that the other manufacturers do the same.
The Everest, by Tiger, is an excellent quality tip. Our issues with bad product is virtually nothing. That's not the case with all tips. Not even the name brand ones.
It's also very well accepted by our customers. I know there are many who don't like them, but there are easily as many, if not more, that do like them.
Availability is also a critical factor. We can't put out all our marketing, and build volumes of inventory only to have the tip change or not be available when we need it.
Of course, price is always a consideration in business. Price alone, however, will never be the deciding factor with which tip we choose.
As you can imagine, we get to try many different kinds and brands of tips. Taking all that into consideration, we still choose to use the Everest.
My personal experience with them goes like this. I install the tip just like any other tip. I shape it and burnish the sides a little bit, and play with it. After a couple of sessions, I trim it up and re-shape it, and that's pretty much it. I may shape it with my little hand shaper I carry in my case a couple of times over the life of the tip, but certainly not very often. After 6 months to a year of play, it gets a little thin and hard and I replace it with a new one and start all over. Pretty simple. I'm sure other brands of tips would be about the same as far as my routine goes. I don't ever feel at any time that the tip had any negative effect on my game.
All in all the Everest is just an excellent tip. No, it's not going to be liked by everyone, but no tip ever will.

I have one with an Everest tip on it, and my feelings on the Everest are mixed right now. I think it's a pretty good tip and it seems to play well and feels good, but it has been my experience that it requires a little more maintenance than the Moori I used to play with. Not a whole lot, but if I don't take the tip pik to it every few sessions I'll notice I start getting more and more miscues. Also, I have to burnish it more than I'm used to. With all of that being said it plays and feels much better than my old Moori tip.
i have the OB classic pro, i've tried a few different tips. i was playing with a KSSBlack and always loved it, i just put on the KSSBlack Clear just for the helluva it and it's even better. the clear pad makes for a much better install. with the clear pad, you don't have to sand the bottom. if you don't sand the bottom perfectly flat, you get gaps, and you get that CLICK sound. the Clear tip sounds better and hits more solid IMO.

The reason I think is because there is to much B/S about Moori's, That is why I think they are using Everest, That is the reason Predator now uses a Everest because no one can find a good source for Moori's . What did they all put on the shafts before Everest? MOORI
Send me your address and I will send you a soft and medium Ki-Tech for free... I am currently using the Ki-Tech soft on the Pro and have a ton of converts to the soft and mediums from much higher priced tips.....
Start with the soft and if it's not to your liking move to the medium...
The only thing I ask is that if you end up liking the Ki-Tech wayyy better than the everest which I think you will... Post the fact on here so I can neener-neener Royce next time I see him.... Heck I'll neener him regardless but it's always good to have extra ammo.....

I think the Everest tip is *ok*, but really sells this nice shaft short. When I put on a Kamui black soft, it came alive. I would highly recommend trying that tip.

When I used an OB2 shaft on my grandfathers old cue I had a Moori medium and found it to be a good combination.
When switching to the OB J-line 408 cue (OB-1 shaft) I purchased through OB and had a Moori Soft tip put on and with the OB-1 shaft I preferred the softer tip.
Now with a custom Ariel Carmeli cue I am using a Kamui Soft (My local shop was sold out of Moori Soft at the time). Overall, and between the three tips I prefer the Moori Soft. It is not a huge difference from the Kamui, however I enjoy the feel of the Moori more.

If Predator/OB et al are actually paying Tiger for their Everests, I'd be amazed.
I put a OB Classic on my Viking playing cue after I started playing after my strokes and heart attack. I used it for about 4-5 years and liked it. I saw SVB with a Cuetec R 360 and wanted to play like him :smile: so I bought one and loved it. I don't play at all anymore but can't bring myself to sell or give them away. They were all very good for me. $350 Viking, $150 Cuetec, and a $150 B&J cue. Johnnyt
