Opinion on Breaking Cues

Hello all,
I am currently looking for advice on a good breaking cue. I really suck at jumping so i am strictly looking for a break cue and see several items for sale here but unable to determine the amount of money I should spend. I am a somewhat decent player and for right now dont want to drop a large amount into something that I may not need...and just the opposite should i spend the money now and just shut up?

Get a JnJ break cue... For something less than $50 it's a great break cue (According to players here) :)

Where would one buy a j&j? I've been looking for one but the only place I found it was on ebay but its shipped from taiwan and the shipping is too expensive. I also found a website trough google but doesn't look trustworthy. Anyone know where to get these?

My opinion on breaking cues is that you should not break them. It's too expensive to keep buying whole ones.

Try J&J America...

Check out the 2012 catalog and open the #18 jpeg. It shows pictures of all the J&J jump breaks.

Thanks, that's the site I was talking about. It just seemed odd to me that you can't even purchase online. You have to have them call you back or you call them to give them your credit card number. Also, I remember looking at that site about 2 years back and it looked exactly the same so I wasn't even sure if it was still working... Just seemed very 'iffy'. Have you ordered from them before?

Also, the cheapest jump break they have there is $80. I was hoping for something in the $50 price range I've heard so many people paid. :)

The Pechauer break cue is awesome. It is front weighted so you don't have to have a stroke like Busty. I have used it for 2 years now and it works well for me. Other players in my league love it as well.

I have not ordered from them but I know folks that have with no issues. And I have never seen any complaints on AZ.

Send them a check if you are uncomfortable with giving them your card number. I would rather personally give my card info over the phone than the Internet.

I second the Pechauer Break Cue! It's really nice. The front weight helps. Haven't thought about changing cues since I got it.

Many folks on here suffer from the cue buying addiction. So I really pay attention to comments like this. I might have to try one out. Nice looking to.

I went through a phase where I was looking for the perfect case. It was a quest that consumed me for a while. I tried many of the top production and custom case makers. Once I got my John Barton custom, I haven't thought about changing cases since I got it. So I know what you mean.

I wouldn't worry about J&J. They do a lot of wholesale to other merchants and just aren't really set up as an online retail store. They probably don't have the security software and that's why they recommend calling them with your credit card #.

They make a decent low priced break cue. Just make sure the one you order is not phenolic tipped if you require a BCAPL legal leather tip.

How would you all compare the J&J to the Players S-PJB6? Which would you recommend?

(Apologies to the OP. I didn't mean to highjack the thread, but maybe this info will benefit you as well :) )

Funny, I had the cue addiction. Tried everything out there practically. Stopped buying when I found my Tascarella, Pechauer Break and JB Case.

This same question has been posted several times in the past and I almost always have to jump in and say "I love my Predator BK2". It seems to be the go to break cue in my area as I see the better players use this cue far more than any other break cue.

I love front weighted cues probably more so than anyone on AZ. And I have a bunch of them, including a Pechauer and custom cues to boot. I even taken the bolts out of cues to make them more front weighted.

BUT, I don't see where they can help you on the break. Predator says back weighted cues are better for breaking, and I have to agree with them as I own a PK2 break cue and it is awesome.

Huh never thought about front weighting a break cue....

I own the scorpion Johnny Archer break cue. Metal ferrul and metal joints with bottom weighting.

I would think with the bottom weighting that it would help with the follow through as it makes it easier to keep the cue in line. With a front weighted cue I would imagine it would be harder to keep it in line as the front would have a tendency to dip.

Can someone explain the thought behind front weighting a break cue?

Get a cue that works for you but if you get a chance to try a Samsara Break tip that would enhance any JJ/mid level/high level break cue. You can also jump balls with this tip pretty well for full table jumps.
