In fairness to the guy trying to get the game, I've played him and we PM now and then about rematching, though we haven't done so yet. He's a nice guy, in person and PM, in my experience (the "beginner" part was a bit much, though). And he's been around AZ longer than me, and doesn't seem to regularly be focused on pressuring people into matching up. I guess my point is that he may be pushing in this instance, but he's no pokerhammer.

I like your attitude Purd..........snap him off at the knees, whomever it is. If you didn't want to play I'm sure you would have said no. So,

I'd make him play an all around:

9ball > 10 racks
8ball > 10 racks
1pocket > 5 racks
14.1 > 100 points with the winner getting a 4 rack score towards their total.

and put up the $$$ for the overall winner.....

I don't like to gamble at pool either. I think it's because I love the game so much I don't want anything to sour me on the game such as a big loss gambling on it. I've seen that happen to many of my old pool pals.

One other thing, why let someone talk you into doing something you don't want to do? You don't like to gambe and he does. Talk him into doing it your way instead. Play for bragging rights. If he beats you, he gets to post it on AZ and the same goes for you.

I'm sure we'd all like to hear all the details of the match, names/handles and the scores.

this is a BIG STEAMING PILE OF B.S. Don, would you like me to post all the pm's you sent me and my responses? I will summarize what happened

- I listed out a bunch of racks in a rack mechanic thread
- Don told sent me a PM telling me I'm full of it and if I want action he'll give me a couple tries to break the balls into the called pockets for each rack
- we talked some mutual sh!t to each other
- Don pm's me saying I got action playing any game for a dime
- I tell Don I will take the rest of the day off from work and we can play right now
- Don tells me he doesn't want to and reiterates that in the beginning he called me out b/c what I said about racking is BS
- I tell Don he has no idea what he is talking about with racking because he is a beginner
- Don woofs at me and tells me I got action playing for 500
- I tell Don I want to play 7 ahead for 500 or we can do 9 or 11 ahead but he should bet more...but before I can even send the pm...I get his next one:
- Don tells me he wants to play for 25/rack - 10 racks 8 ball and 10 racks 9 ball...and he wants to play at a poolhall that is an hour away from us. WTF
- I tell Don if he wants to play by the rack, I want to play at any of the 3-4 poolhalls that are 15-25 minutes for both of us - and he can pick one
- Don says if I want action I HAVE to goto the one that's an hour away at the time he specified
- I tell Don if he wants customer service (me driving an hour) to bet more and that if he wants to play 1 ahead set for the 500 this is not a problem

Don has not once justified WHY he must play at this location that is an hour away from BOTH of us. What I'm thinking is:
1) he doesn't plan on showing up and he'd like to see me drive 2 hours roundtrip to waste my time. maybe he'll call at around 1pm and have a laugh at my expense?
2) Don has some friends at this poolhall that will wait for me in the parking lot (Don specifically asked me to come alone a couple times)

And Don, if you would like me to post every single pm about this action, I will be happy to do it - just let me know...this way everyone can see how you went from woofing at me to play for a dime at any game to telling me you just made a downpayment on a house.

I will say it one more time. If you want to play by the rack, we will compromise on a location that is within 15-30 minutes away from BOTH of us. There are a couple places. Choose whichever, I don't care.

If you insist on playing an hour away under your terms and conditions, then BET MORE. Don't expect customer service unless you pay for it.

This would not be enough action for a money player. They would want to play 10 ahead for the $500.

Probably better not to play, or just play a straight $25 a game and anyone can walk when they want to.

It doesn't sound to me like you guys want to be shooting pool. It sounds like you want to be shooting each other.

I don't see what good can come of a match between you two gentlemen until you make peace with each other.

I will let his postings of PM (Private Messages) speak for Eggs integrity. You are absolutly correct Chris. There does seem to be a problem here. Some people will never get along. God bless him, I wish him all the best.

Well, I'm with Egg on this one. After reading the pm correspondence it sounds like Egg is the one most willing to compromise. No reason not to play at a room that is conveniant for both of you. Forget about all this smack about playing for 2k or 50k or whatever...., forget about beginner...girlfriend...retirement...etc....

Play an ahead set for $500 at a pool hall near you and be done with the woofing. Post the results here so that we can all laugh at, sympathize with, or cajole the losing player. : )

Not point a finger at either player but in a general sense the one totally reliable action killer with me always has been mean spirited woofing.

I lose interest immediately.

Yes, the PMs do appear to speak to Egg's integrity. Probably not in the way you had hoped.

Egg says he is willing to gamble and is flexible on the location. He'll go to the location 1 hour away for the $500 match you initially proposed, and he'll go to a closer location for the cheaper sets you later offered. Seems like a very fair compromise.
 
Sounds like this started out as a pissing contest that has now become malicious. I think you both should agree to disagree and forget about it. If you did get together now, it's very possible that it could get ugly regardless of who wins. When things get ugly, no one wins!

Nobody is gonna get into any kind of fight over this. Egg is an alright guy. He is a money player. I am a recreational player. That in itself creates a problem. I have played Egg before and enjoyed it. 1 pocket and 9 ball.
I have stated that I don't like to gamble. Some here do and some don't.
I would love to play some 9 ball with Egg just to let him know I can play a bit. I ain't no world beater but I got game. I will try and get together with Egg and play some cheep 9 ball, close to home, and let you all who are interested know the results. Until then, hit em straight and have one on me. Egg, I apologize. PM me your numbers again. My box fills up so fast I have to delete a bunch.
