Looks like everyone and their brother are selling many items in the for sale section here on AZ-land.Looks like everone and their brother complain about ads just placed pushed back to page 8 in the first 24 hours. How about make it mandatory you must pull your ad within 24 hours of it being sold. Wouldnt this free up advertising space for items still trying to be sold. Please give thoughts and opinions as to whether you think this would be a step in the right direction. Good and bad, lets hear it all. ps Glwys

I like being able to search the history. I would not want to see those threads deleted.

something should be done, but that may not be the answer, how about separate the dealers from the single sellers?some ass hammer quoted me all the forum rules for bumping a thread in the same day and then i answered in my special way which got me red rep points which i dont actually care about but it was all over me trying to help an older gent sell a cue.it turned into so much drama i pulled the stuff.the tricks of having freinds bump through questions come next, now keep in mind nobody has ever complained about my for sale threads as i never usually bump them on my own,but this time i did and was pretty clear about it.then it turned into who does and doesnt respect the people and the rules.i think if you sell more than x amount of items per month or week, you should be considered a dealer and maybe be in a different forum..let the crying begin

The for sale section history is extremely valuable when researching cues because of the pictures.

I wouldn't delete it.

I think the current rules work fine. They should just be enforced as best as reasonably possible.

If items are sold , the threads should die.

If people are bumping sold threads then that's a different story and IMO should reported if it's abusive.

If an item sells have it moved to a locked sold section that can be looked at but not be posted on and have it back on the first page 3 years after it has been sold. Dave

I understand what your issue is but....

Are there really that many 3 year old sold threads on the first page?

I'm not sure if it currently is but they CAN set the forum to only one physical bump per 24hr period...if it's isn't already.

I think what's really needed here is a "sold" feature on fs/ft threads. Having an archive is immensely valuable for many reasons, but if I want to run a search for all "available" cues that meet a certain criteria, I may be completely out of luck.

this not only keeps the section fresh, but allows me to see items that may be stagnant and put in an offer to the benefit of the seller and myself.

It may turn out to be more work than is reasonable, but it's a feature I'd love to have.

I think all comments and questions should be in a P.M. the op should put any answers to commonly asked questions in the op when they do there 48 hour bump. The only thing other people should be allowed to post is item sold or some type of indication for first come first serve.
We ALL have bumped a friends sale before. How about the handful of guys who give you a story about there every experience with every item for sale.

One thing for sure...Only Billiards Items Allowed!

Many of us here don't have the good old habit to update a thread with "SOLD" after items were sold....

I guess we can force a thread to auto expire after 30 days (locks itself), and if the item is still not sold, the seller can then open a new thread. More work for the sellers, but less annoyance from the stupid grave-digging bumps.

I think enforcement of the rules is the real issue here, people get away with it because they can. But because the ads are free, nobody (moderators) is going to spend time policing all the ads every hour. The mods could, however, take appropriate action when an ad is reported for abusing the rules.

I also believe that the Wanted/For Sale Forum should be a contained, seperate forum with several sub-forums that would relieve the pressure of a single forum serving multiple needs.

Suggestion: divide the W/FS into 3 sub forums with sub-sub forums:
1) CUES: a) $1-$200, b) $201-$500, c) $501-$1000, d) over $1000
2) CASES: a) under $200, b) over $200
3) EVERYTHING ELSE
4) SOLD CUES
5) SOLD CASES

Sold and active

You should be able to search thru SOLD listings,...and ACTIVE listings. That way, if you're searching actives, the solds won't even come up.

Ez fix.

I always delete the "Sold Price" from my listings, as the new owner usually
doesn't want to advertise what they paid for the item, in case they may want
to sell at a later date.

Correct. I agree with this. Now there is very little to no moderation wrt the rules. It would be easy to recruit a few people just to help with that section.....helping to enforce the posting & bumping of threads only.

It would also be a good idea to break it up into broad sub categories: Production Cues, Custom Cues, Cue Accessories (shafts, joint protectors, tips), Cases, Everything Else Pool Related, & Non-Pool Items WTT for Pool Stuff.
