Orcullo vs. Frost- Live Reports

For some awful reason I couldn't watch while I was at work. Thankfully I'm off now and can catch it all

I'm not a one pocket player or aficionado, but I love watching great players do their thing on the pool table in any game. This has a been a great match so far, and I think it can continue to be. Day 1 lived up the hype for sure. Looking forward to the rest.

It got awfully quiet in the chat room when Scott came back. Each game Dennis won the chat got tougher and the bandwagon was rolling until Frost got a little comfortable. Good match and I applaud both players. It is far from over and can go either way. This is gambling in a pretty even match I feel with all the action going both ways on it.

Scott wasn't comfortable for whatever reason -- Game 4, he is leading 5-0 and takes a ball out off Dennis side and simply wants to go 3 rails to the ball to his side, hits it 2 feet too hard, leaves Dennis a fairly easy straight back bank and Dennis ran 6 from there I think. Next game, Scott reverses the break fairly quickly and then tries a pretty easy bank back to his hole, hits is very bad and clips another ball up table leaving Dennis a straight in shot. Those are mistakes Scott just isn't gonna make.

Scott did a hell of a job gathering himself and realizing the match has a long way to go. That's what champions do. He has the experience and he has the game knowledge.

... Christ amighty, is One Pocket slow, or what? It took three hours to play the first four games. That's...uh, let's see...uh...three divided by...uh...carry the two...uh...subtract eight minutes for a smoke. Wow, three hours to play four games. ...

Thou doth exaggerate a bit there, TS. The first game was long at about 50 minutes, but the next 3 were about 50 minutes total. So about 100 minutes for the first 4.

For the day, it was about 8 hours for 18 games, an average of about 27 minutes per game (including some timeouts).

From what I saw in day 1, none of them would stand a chance against Alex. Alex is much tougher mentally.

Scott's body language is way too negative, he got lucky that Dennis felt a slight pressure (!!!) and gave him some games to get some confidence back.

Well, great match I guess in the sense they are equal, gonna be a dog fight for sure unless Scott got a sizable lead on day 2. Dennis is not a good chaser, especially playing a guy with more knowledge in the game. In any case, If Scott somehow could free-stroking, Dennis has no chance.

Yes 1P is a long game

The good thing about the time it takes to play this game is that it's a race to 40.....I think it would be harder to watch if it were an "ahead" type of match.

Lots of time taken up by moving all those balls down to the other end, and playing safeties....but that's what's interesting about it, to see how they move, if you like one pocket....being aggressive and offensive is a risk though, in this caliber of play, because one mistake can cost you another game....I see how they respect each other's abilities quite a bit, when they opt not to take a chance on making a ball on tough shots, but rather play a safety instead....against me they would take every offensive shot, lol...

I'm glad Frost came back to lead 10-8..........it would've been tough to watch this match with him far behind, and trying to catch up the entire match......

What? Me exaggerate?
I'll tell you one thing, I enjoyed the hell out of it. I sat here on this little hard stool in front of the computer until my butt ached, and plan to do it again this afternoon.
Like others have mentioned, Scott was a tad tentative in the beginning, but like throwing a switch we saw the Power One Pocket come on and it was off to the races. :)

Another great game of strategic moving versus best ball striking. Up 6-5 in balls. Scott doesn't get perfect on a takeout. Impossible shot for the rest of us, but Dennis gets out.

10-9 Scott

I'm wondering who would want an even game with Dennis if he actually played one pocket half as often as he plays rotation

Scott now up 11-9.

Scott has got the lead on every game I've seen for the last 10 racks or more. But, playing the lead doesn't seem to work as much on Dennis. Dennis the world's most accurate ball striker in my opinion.

Scott continuing his great overall play, leading again 4-0 on this 21st game.
