Mika Immonen A.K.A. "Iceman" original Larry "Iceman" Hubbard

Luc Salvas A.K.A. "Machine Gun" original Lou "Machine Gun" Butera

Who else do you know that had their nick name stolen?

We retire jersey's of professional baseball, football and Hockey players. How come we don't retire the nicknames of famous pool players?..

Unfortunately Klockdoc, I don't think there will be any way from stopping it. In fact, I am willing to bet somewhere in San Fransico, some one is already using or will steal 49'er Bob. :D

I saw one time that there is another "bata". I suppose that is indicative of why you see the same nickname recycled over and over..."bata" means "boy"...each generation starts anew...so each generation will have a new "bata"...even if the original bearer of the nickname is alive or not.

I think I'm gonna nickname myself Minnesota Fatts now... :D

Actually, maybe someone can clarify this for me as to whether it is true or not.

I heard that Rudolph Wanderone was actually nicknamed New York Fats, but, changed his name to Minnesota Fats after the movie "The Hustler" came out.

Is "Fatboy" original? If its not i'll change it today, nothing is wosre than taking the name of a ledgend..

I could be a Russell Simmons knock-off and be "Phatboy" :) ;)

All I think of when I saw Russell Simmons is a little man with a big afro dancing around in pink mini-shorts yelling "1&2&3&4.....c'mon girls - pump it some more...."

Oh, sorry, that was Richard Simmons! :p :p

thats funny,

There's a guy around town that's trying to adopt the nickname "Snake". I told him that Marco Marquez already owns that one. So, I nicknamed him "Skunk". He asked why I call him that and I told him because "Weasel" was already taken.

I'm "Toupee Jay" Helfert.

And very few people know that there used to be "Toupee Jay" Greenleaf, Ralph's older brother, who some say played better than Ralph when they were kids.

This is a little known piece of trivia that I just created from the far reaches of my own demented mind. :)

Mark Haddad, I believe, is the Snake you're referring to.

We had a guy around this area was called " Willie the Weasel" Hilldebrandt. Great player. Used to play one handed one pocket/$100 a game all the time. They played on a 5 x 10 A.E. Schmidt.
