Ornate Bobby Hunter Cue

Wow from one Bobby to another this is a masterpiece.What are you going to do with the cue?You have stepped up to a enormous level with this cues designs and I hope you continue on this path of artistry.

Whoever gets this is going to be blessed with a cue one can look at closely over and over again, as it's both artful yet personal in expression - it's got character seemingly based on an archaic (Celtic ornamentation?) pattern. The colour combination is beautiful. A bit girly perhaps, but who cares, very well balanced, should look great from a distance, too. Never seen one quite like it, congratulations! :thumbup:

I forgot to mention in my last post is the pink ivory wood is the best choice possible IMO for this cue. I sure would like to see pics of the whole cue. for some reason I have a feeling I'll see this cue someday. Bobby has kicked it up about 3 levels with this cue. His cues keep getting better and better.

Seriously...pushing the envelope!!! i love the intricate design and execution of different woods..especially the pink ivory, ivory and ebony. They seem to contrast and flow at the same time. I would love to see more of this design coming out of your shop. Incredible.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. It's nice to hear after all the hours (and days... and weeks... and months) of work. Now I just have to figure out how to top this one!
 
Thanks, Bobby. This one is sold already but I'm almost finished with a second one with Amboyna Burl in place of the Pink Ivory. The design will be retired after this one.

Hey Bob,

Would you mind giving us an estimate in how much time it takes to do thge CNC work on something as ornate as this? It has to be very very time consuming in art design, cad time, testing, execution and brain power labor.

Hey John,

Countless is a very good estimate. But I would guess it is over 300. Maybe more. This cue is way over the top and is in the "TW" stratosphere as it looks perfect to me from the pics.

Hi Rick,
I spent, maybe, 3 months, on and off, working on the design and then about 9 more months building the two cues. Of course I was working on other cues too but that was the timeline on these. No idea how many hours. It got pretty scary toward the end, thinking "what if I make a mistake now?"

Bob,

Doing that design with all of those compound inlay geometries at some point has to be doing the tightrope walk without a net. It is kinda like a high run in straight pool. You ran 150 and out on this one for sure.

Nice work Bobby. I like the matching pink ivory butterfly splice. Makes the belt match the shoes.
