Big Nasty and I have gotten most of the bugs worked out of the gear we are going to use to do Podcasts. Our first one is up right now on the home page of www.theactionreport.com .

We discuss the upcoming Shooters 10 Ball event, the players who will be there, Shane's current run of top finishes as well as his comments in the TV interview, and we discuss the state of the game in general. Its about 35 minutes long.

You can listen to it by just clicking the play button on the media player embedded in the page to listen to it in the home page window. If you want to download it you just right click and "SAVE AS" on the area below the player that says click here. Then you can use I-Tunes or Windows Media Player or whatever mp3 program you like to listen to it. You can even put it on your IPod and take me and BigNasty with you. :D :D

We will be doing most of our player interviews this way. Our first one is going to be The Earthquake himself, Keith McCready. Look for that around next Monday.

If you have any problems with the podcast please let me know and if you have any suggestions we would love to hear them.

SWEET! I just recently got into podcasts myself, and wondered why there were no pool related podcasts. You guys rock! If you want to see what another "game" has done with podcasts, check out http://chess.fm . They have been doing podcasts for years (what else would you expect of chess geeks? :D), and those podcasts are wildly popular.

Imagine getting a random pro at an event to do commentary with you on a big match. Imagine getting KEITH to do commentary with you! Maybe we could get some really raunchy commentating, like that one Accu-Stats video floating out there, with everyone cussing up a storm.

I would think you could get quite a few people to sign up for a monthly membership for that sort of coverage, for a modest price.

Hmm.. Won't let me download the MP3. Websense has the link as "Uncategorized" and won't download it. Perhaps a generic tag will allow it to download?

too cool JC!! amazing the effort you guys are putting in to bring pool closer to all.

Works fine for me in both Opera and IE7. Make sure you right click on the area of text that says "Click here" and not on the media player itself.

If it still won't work let me know and we'll figure something out.

EDIT TO ADD: Just looked up Websense and found out it is security software. I don't know what to tell you there. If there is something I can do on my end to help you just let me know.

That's awesome JCIN, when you do the interview with Keither make sure to tell him to get playing again

106 miles to Chicago. Got a full tank of gas, half pack of cigarettes, it is dark, and we're wearing sunglasses!

I LOVE IT!

JCIN,

I think the way Websense works is it uses the browser tags that search engines scan websites for. So, if a gambling site wants their site to show up whenever someone types in "gambling" in Google, they will add the "gambling" tag to their page.

Perhaps a webmaster could tell you more. An idea is to open the html code of that page, search for any instances of the word "Uncategorized", and replace it with "health" or something generic that noone would set Websense to flag.

Are you going to list in the iTunes store? If you do, we would then be able to subscribe to it, and download the newest podcast automatically.

I am trying to figure out how to set up an RSS feed. If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it. Once the RSS is set up I will submit it to I-Tunes and hopefully they will put it up.

The early days of TAR

I know I tease you Tabies, so I thought I'd do a historical post.

Coincidentally two months after this post is the first live stream of Earl and Johnny via IPT.

Don't get all confused with the talk.

Most industry insiders don't want TAR to go the way IPT did.

Just because you hear one critic doesn't mean TAR is going to go out of business. Look at what happen to IPT, many critics are open about their remarks. It was because of bad management they went under.

As for TAR it looks like they have taken a few loans out and are paying off debt. Nobody wanted to buy the IPT for all the debt it had. And so IPT vanished and with it many hopes and dreams.
