Over & Under Balabushka Guessing Contest

OK, here's my guess:

===================

$24,000.02 (low)

$24,000.04 (high)

===================

Come on, the auction winner can't win this contest, too. :)

There was a lot of FUNNY STUFF going on in that book. You can't go by the book on some stuff !! Lot of nice things about that cue.

I'm sure there is lots of funny stuff going on and I'm no expert. I've seen Rambos go on eBay for far below their BlueBook value, I think Palmers on eBay perform pretty close to BlueBook (I'll guess a decent test of that will be my Palmer M that ends this Sunday). The Gus I sold on eBay was rarish but I think it went for close to Book and the 2 Balabushkas I've seen go on eBay (last 5 months?) performed pretty close to BlueBook. Again, I'm not yet that impressed by the provenance on this particular cue and that can always change things drastically.

I'd be happy to be surprised and learn something on this one.

I also want a cue shopping helper like Kenregan when I win or lose

Like the man said... some funny things in that book... compare the second edition, with the third edition prices on Rambos, and know that a collector was enhancing his collection... and thats all you need to know.

My understanding is that the BlueBook contacts those "most knowledgable" in each area of cues, lots of collectors, which is fair, they are the market after all. Some collectors see it as benificial to inflate their values and enhance their collection by that raise in value, some collectors deflate the values in order to enhance their collection more easily through acquisition.

I've only seen 2 Balabushkas go at what was a reasonably straight forward eBay auction in the months I've been paying attention, and 2 is certainly not enough comp sales to determine much of anything, but those 2 went very close to the current BlueBook value guide. This Balabushka looks like a combination of 2 level 4 examples in the current BlueBook, both of which top out at 13K, and I'd be way surprised to see it go for the 50K some were predicting at the beginning. Again, I'd love to be surprised.

Of course, if this guy produces some super-strong Mosconi provenance all bets are off.
