Oversized pool 8 ft tables

I am buying an oversized 8 ft pool table SaturDAY. Does anyone know

the inside playing area between rails, width and length ?

I measured a regular 8ft table and it measured 46in. across.

The table Iam buying measures 48 in. across from inside bumper to

inside bumper according to the seller.

I am traveling 300 miles to go see it but I want to be sure that is

what an oversized 8 ft table should meaure.

APPRECIATE ANY INFO,

Ben

An oversize 8 should measure 46" X 92" cushions to cushions. A reg. 8 (or home 8) measures 44 x 88.

Diamond split the two on their Pro-Am at 45 x 90. <=== I like that idea.

A 9'er is 50 x 100.

Ready to be corrected also.

What 'brand' of table is it - no table I am aware of is 48.

If it were me, before driving 300 miles, I would ask him to measure once
again. Make sure he understands cushion-nose-to-cushion-nose.

Correct all the way:D...there is no such pool table with a playing surface of 48" wide.

onepocketben2, my guess is the seller put his tape on the playing surface, under the bumper and called that an "inside the bumper" measure.

You're going to look at an oversize 8' or a commercial 8 as they have been called also. This is my favorite size table and the size of my Brunswick Regina from 1913.

I love the table, but the rails are not 100% perfectly straight:angry:
Too bad I'm a picky SOB, I just don't want to practice banks on cushions that are not absolutely perfect.
My wife might pull her hair out when I sell it for a Diamond Pro-Am 8 this spring.

Nice table. There's a few folks here that can fix those rails for you to play perfectly. Something to think about.

Google "pool table size" and click on images on the left. You will find plenty of charts showing the playing area of various table sizes. Btw don't necessarily trust the "minimum room size" numbers. Some of those charts assume zero backstroke.

I have an oversized 8 foot Olhausen. To be sure it would fit my odd shaped room i made a scale drawing of the room and made a paper cutout of what the table playing area plus backstroke area would look like.

RE: Oversized 8ft pool tables

GUYS,

The table I was going to buy is a 1938 Old BRUNSWICK. The seller
measured the table from nose to nose and it was actually 46".
So, apparently he is correct in advertising it as an oversize 8ft table.

However, I play one pocket therefore, I need to stick to a 9ft table.
otherwise, I will regret it for the rest of my life.

Its a beautiful Brunswick table . Too bad it is not a 9ft table.

I want to thank all of you that provided me with all this info.
I really appreciate it.

Thanks,
