The butt cap is some previous owner's hack job. When looking inside the but cap, it looks like the carved it down with a knife to slide the but cap over.

Not even like a Palmer. This is a cheap Taiwan import.
Back in the late 80s/early 90s tons of cues like this came in from Taiwan.

Do you know of any pictures of them? What makes you think it is a Taiwan import? Never seen one of those. What distinguishing characteristics make you say such?

Thanks

I've owned 8 or 9 of them - mostly the one piece version - I used to
buy 'seconds' from an importer.

FWIW - I'm 'real' sure about these cues.

Bumping this while Chris Tate is in the house.

I'm on the spot! I'm just guessing but it's not a Palmer. Palmer made almost no wrapless full splice cues with veneers.

Adam has some cues that look like this, but the close up tells me something else.

I would agree with Dale. If I had to guess I would say it's a KPS cue from Taiwan, probably from the 1980's. KPS was a company in Taiwan that eventually became Falcon - Ernie. They sold some blanks to Palmer in the 1980's and produced full splice like this.

Anyway, just a guess. I was recently e-mailed a photo like this but with a lot less detail.

Chris
