Parica Plays....

in our local (North Las Vegas) $5 9 ball Tournament.
I was able to play him in the hot seat finals, only to
lose 2-0. But he did give me 3 shots, a push, a kick
and a jump.
My friend Wes met him in the finals, and he got no shots.
All he did was rack!
It was fun anyway.

the life of pro pool player. $5 entry fee tournaments.

I know you all had fun but this reminds me of the time I saw a legend, someone everyone knows and who has won so many titles he would need a notepad to list them all, playing $5 pool and needing to get staked. The life of a pro pool player is brutal right now.

I bought a prepaid phone for a second emergency phone. Now that I am familiar with them I couldnt help notice the high number of Prepaid Phones that top amateurs and pros have. Not a good sign at all IMHO.

$5 entry? Hell, I've seen guys like Ronnie A, Keith, Ambrose, and others playing in no entry fee tournaments. Sometimes that's all there is.

I agree, but someone did also say sometimes that is all there is. I guess if you are a pro and you were going to practice anyway you might as well go for a $200.00 1st place tourney. Again I agree with you though, Jose should be above that as should alot of other players. Tiger would not play in a small event like that even for the practice. Man I hate compairing pool to golf but it is the only one I can come up with. Some of these guys like Jose shoulkd be able to make a living on what tey have done in the past for corp exhibitions etc. Look at fats he made $$ opening casinos (I know fats was not a good example but I am ssure you know what I mean)

That's because you can't get a monthly plan when your mailing address is the back of your girlfriends car. ;-)

Parica will be playing in $500 entry event this weekend! See my signature.

I just feel for these tremendous talents who have to live such lean lives. I wish I was on Forbes list of loaded people so I could pump 1m into the pool economy every year. 20k added tournaments every week. ah to dream...

I know you're talking about pool pros in general, but it bears repeating that Parica is loaded in terms of money.

I think of it more like an open mic night. I went to an open mic night at a blues club one time and there were a couple of members of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band there playing along and singing. Unpaid. They were doing it because they love to play music.

I think Jose played because he loves to play in tournaments.
