I have found a local cue maker and I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. They are located in Richmond, VA.
Thank you
Sambo

I got the chacne to see a few of them up close and personal at the Orlando Open last year. They are nice looking cues. I thought they were made in the Keys though, because everyone at the tournament that had one was on a team that played out of there.

The guys name is Todd Elkins.... As a person to deal with... you can't find a nicer person in or out of the pool world. Honest, decent, genuine, nice guy. I don't know how his cues hit but he has done work on my cues and he's done a beautiful job.

He does on-site repairs at most of the Tiger Planet Pool events and I've yet to hear anyone complain about anything when it comes to Todd. ;)

Sambo:

You can take my word for it. Todd makes one of the best hitting cues you will ever hope for. I wpoould match him up against just about any one of the cuemakers out there today (Josey,Gilbert, etc). Since you live in VA Beach I'll make a deal with you. Come up and play in the 2006 VA State 9 Ball Championships next weekend, July 22-23; or at least come and watch. I have some friends who will be playing with them and I am sure that they will let you hit a few balls with theirs. Todd also has a few in stock at the moment. He can make anything you want as well. He just moved his shop into the poolroom we have the tournament in, The Playing Field, so you can meet him, his apprentice Rayman and play in the tournament.

We'd love to have you!

PM me and I will give you my cell # if you have any questions.

I have to second JMD info on Todd..

He is a hell of a nice guy.. i spoke to him at the APA Tri-cup. He was an Enginer before making cues..he has a great passion for making cues. He also had a deep rooted belief in family. He says that he could have gone into cue making with out his wife. You can hear the love and greatfullness in his voice when he talks about it. I have played with several of his cues and they hit awsome..they are just beautiful cues..he has an eye for creativity and design..you are close to getting an incredible cue ..hope you go all the way.

well i would like to thank everyone for their input. i spoke with his apprentice Rayman today and i have to agree and say that he was very passionate about their custom cues. not sure i qualify for va state 9 ball championships since i play 8 ball...but i will give it a try

JMD i am looking forward to meeting you!!! see you next weekend

Tab, you've just managed to acquaint yourself with three very nice guys (Todd, Rayman, & Josh aka "The Mayor" aka JMD in VA). Congrats & good luck with the cue & the tourney... I don't think you're going to be disappointed with any of the above mentioned. ;)

Parrott cues

Judging from the previous responses, I am probably wrong on this - but. . . .I thought David Hodges had something (at one time) to do with Parrott cues. Am I thinking of a different name?

Just curious now.

Todd does first class work and I don't think you will be disapointed with one of his cues.

If you make it to the Va. State Championship, be sure to look me up. I will be the big ugly guy, lugging around a huge camera, taking pictures of the event. JMD can point you in my direction. :D

I'll be there too!

And stop by to say hi to me as well. I make the trophies for the tournament and help to fill the field. ;)

Todd makes a great cue and is a fine man. Everyone likes him.

Brian in VA - practicing at lunch today since I don't usually play 9 ball either.

I wont be playiing in it..since i thougt i was going to have to go to court back in Ohio were i was an officer for a sheriff's department there..a nine year old case..come back to haunt me...ha ha ha..but i got a continuence so i gona be at the pool tounamnet...you guys can not miss me..i will be a the large black male with a cool azz green tee shirt that has a airbrushed pool table on it with a corner pocket at the sholder with a nine ball screaming to it with "Nothing But the Back of the Pocket" on it...would love to meet some of you guys..

Take care

Here's a link to their website, but it seems to have some areas still under construction.

hope everyone is having a good day...well i just went and practiced some 9 ball on a 9 footer (since i play 8 ball on a 7"er)...and not sure if i want to embarrass myself infront of everyone there. one thing it did do is make me appreciate how good the pros are. but do know i will be there one way or the other.

*reason for the aka tab...that is my real nick name...but another azer already had it.

I would also like to put in a good word for Todd. I was in richmond last august with a couple of players looking for a little action and needed to get a couple od tips shaped and shafts cleaned, etc.. the poolroom told me about parrot cues shop and they called to make sure todd was there. he was and i went (about .5 mile from poolroom) lol. I did buy a set of joint protectors from todd and then had him shape two tips and use a black sharpie to paint them. he then cleaned each shaft and REFUSED to take any money for it. he wouldnt take my money no matter how hard i protested and as others have said, he is a very nice and knowledgable guy. he even told me " here , take this piece of leather and (resin bag of baby powder) "to keep shafts slick. again he wouldnt take any money just waived his hand like it was nothing. i couldnt just leave like that so i threw 10 or 20 dollars on his counter(cant remember whitch). and left. What a classy guy. and by the way he just might have the nicest cue makers shop and supplies that i have personally seen. cant speak as to the hit of his cues but they did look great.

Another nod to Parrot cue & Todd Elkins. He has done lots of cue-related work for me and he always returns things perfectly. Couldn't meet a nicer dood. I will see you people at the tourney, I will be the one feeding Todd Budweiser, so he is nice and foggy, should we meet on the taable;)

well it was nice to meet everyone at the va state open this past weekend.

well i meet todd and rayman and i have to say that everything that was said about these 2 guys was correct...both of them were extremely nice and very helpful. and yes i did order a cue from them...my only problem is that i have to wait till next year to get it...oh well…I guess good things (sorry great things) are worth waiting for.

Have a great day everyone!!!
