Peace proposal

There is no Lol and it's reality, not possibility. It exists and they have flame wars. Here's a forum that probably got sick of it and moved to Facebook instead.

https://www.runnersworld.com/help/forums-moved

A lot of pro players who used to post at AZ got sick of the crap and went to Facebook.

Wow. I was just kidding.....never thought it would be really be a possibility. People are weird. Anyone can tell me they disagree with my opinion and that's fine. But I'm always interested in why they disagree. Maybe I'll learn something. Maybe they'll learn something. That's the nature of civil debate. Usually both sides agree to disagree if neither side can produce compelling evidence in support of their view. But even then the "evidence" is usually subjective.

It would be a fun exercise to pick a topic completely at random, like... candy bars and see if there are any candy bar flame wars. If it isn't a heavily moderated group, you can bet there is a war. Snickers...NO, Mounds...NO, Snickers you idiot!

Lol.... probably so. The thing is, we should try to be open minded, but not so open minded that our brains drop out.

We don't need the fun exercise. You can take a direct flight to forums already doing it.

If you promise to stay out of AZ for 2 years, I'll pay your air fare to each and every one of them! Btw, below doesn't even scratch the surface for the number of candy forums.

Maybe this is a good opportunity to ask something I have been wondering for awhile. Why is your avatar two jars of jam?

I think I'll let that be your exercise in imagination.

FOCUS Dan, FOCUS: http://www.socialanxietysupport.com/forum/f36/what-is-your-favorite-candy-bar-207881/

I noticed on just the first 2 pages there are a number of individuals who have "permanently banned" under their screen names. It could be even worse over there than here. All because of CANDY?!

I read the first page. These candy bar lovers are friendly and open to other people's opinions. I also believe many are kids, which says a lot about the average maturity level in this forum. I'm sure if I checked the shoe conversation in a runners forum I'd find the same friendliness when comparing shoes.

This forum is suffering from vintage animosity, holding onto the past with a clenched fist and hasty words. I don't care about questions that were asked 10+ years ago that never got answered, or flame wars that originated from such questions or from conflicting opinions involving aiming systems.

When I joined AZ and came to the aiming forum I thought it was a forum for discussing aiming. How do you aim? How do I aim? How does he or she aim? etc..... Instead, I stepped into a big pile of decade-old poop that many here must love the smell of because they strive to keep it warm and stinky every time a newbie or oldie asks the wrong questions or gives the wrong opinion. Maybe that could be a new rule -- Anyone asking any question about aiming that anyone feels is a sly remark about their own aiming will automatically be banned. Lol.

No questions + No opinions = No knowledge.

I have this image of two 10 year olds having a conversation about whether people in other random forums have arguments like we do in the candy forum. Take, I don't know... billiards, for example. Let's look over there little Timmy. HOLY CRAP! Why didn't mommy put parental controls on our internet?

It is too bad. The most vocal people here think this is the CTE forum and all comments need moderation by the CTE brown shirts. Any blasphemy antithetical to the Church of CTE is met with swift condemnation. Think Scientology. I guess I'm mixing lots of metaphors there, but you get the point. I don't mean to overstate my point, however. There are probably only about 3 people I would consider hard core as far as that goes.

I think Mike's new rule not to attack another aiming system is meant well, and probably has lowered the amount of friction here. But, I still think a more free speech type forum is better. Let ideas stand or fall on their own. Don't protect them through moderation.

For my part, I am content that whatever remaining questions I have about CTE will not be answered, or at a minimum if/until Stan's book comes out, so I don't need to keep trying to figure it out. If the book explains it then fantastic. That would be the end of the bickering. Why not end it now I have no idea, but it is Stan's decision to release information as he sees fit. It's his baby. Well, his and Hal's of course.

All your questions could be answered now, pay for a lesson and stop expecting everything for free. Very simple.

It seems like it. But what other candy thread was disruptive enough to have 3 or 4 of those posters banned?

I also believe many are kids, which says a lot about the average maturity level in this forum.

Kids don't live in forums. They're texting and calling other kids on their cell phones. There are plenty of adults that love candy and experiment with different kinds. Kids don't have the money to try a bunch except when they get candy for free on Halloween.

I'm sure if I checked the shoe conversation in a runners forum I'd find the same friendliness when comparing shoes.

And there are plenty of other forums where all hell breaks loose as bad as here and even worse if you can believe it. Participants get banned left and right. Most are sports forums like football, basketball, and golf. But it also happens on gun forums. I've seen bans on car radar detectors and laser jammers where a few guys got into major fights as far as which one or ones were better.

This forum is suffering from vintage animosity, holding onto the past with a clenched fist and hasty words. I don't care about questions that were asked 10+ years ago that never got answered, or flame wars that originated from such questions or from conflicting opinions involving aiming systems.

Try 20 years to be exact. And that one person who was the prime instigator then is still here now. How do you analyze that one, Dr. Freud?

You weren't around when the questions were answered as calmly and helpfully as a number of pro-aiming enthusiasts could give them in written detail as well as visual (homemade videos). But there was always the know it alls who wouldn't get on the table to work it out themselves who chose to argue from 2D drawings with lines and angles.

Nobody and I mean NOBODY has done more videos than Stan himself to illustrate the how to's. Where has it gotten him? Attacked, attacked, and attacked over and over.

JB did many also. What was the result? Attacked, attacked, and attacked. Try focusing on the attackers and get into their minds and motives.

Here is Dan White from above. Do you detect any venom, animosity, and cynicism in the way it's phrased? If not, you're one of them.

"The most vocal people here think this is the CTE forum and all comments need moderation by the CTE brown shirts. Any blasphemy antithetical to the Church of CTE is met with swift condemnation. Look at the above reference to Scientology and being a Church of CTE. Who is Dan trying to be, Leah Remini? Years ago the pyromaniacs trying to set huge flame war fires referred to those using CTE as "Branch Davidians" or "Waco Whackos" with Hal being the Jim Jones.

Do you consider it to be normal behavior and friendly in their attempt to learn?

They NEVER wanted to learn. Not then, NOT NOW.

At least Leah Remini had an insiders view of Scientology being deeply entrenched into the inner workings of it with the leaders. The anti-CTEers who start all the flame wars couldn't provide a video with correct instructions on the visual setups and performance if their lives depended on it. And they don't. Just run their mouths and wear out keyboards for 20 years.

Who are they trying to save and why? What's the motive? Not one of them would want to be playing any game for big money against Stan or Landon. They'd need a full box of Depends to show up for the lag.

But Dan did succeed in his goal with the post as a flame war pyromaniac. Create the spark, fan the flames, and watch it turn into something bigger. Unfortunately we have REACTIVE posts which is exactly what they want as they sit back innocently.

Prohibit them from entering into the aiming forum and bringing up CTE and everything turns peaceful. Guaranteed!

The only reason I figured some of those candy bar posters were kids is because one posted loving a certain candy bar in the 6th grade, as if that person is now maybe in the 10th grade. It's a social anxiety support page, which tells me most of the members are probably teenagers and a few concerned mothers. Naturally there'll be a few with hateful attitudes that deserve a good banning.

I'm glad I wasn't around years ago when the CTE questions were first being asked. I happen to a be a 2D drawing guru when it comes to pocketing balls. I mean, when aiming a collision between two balls sitting on a level surface, we're dealing with two circles (the equators of the balls). I can use hockey pucks and pocket them just like pool balls, as far as aim line and shot line. CTE perceptions would also work if I understood how to just come in on that final aim line to CCB. I'm not baiting and I'm not questioning the concept. But to any outsider, like I was a months ago, Dan makes a good case that questions seem to be viewed as blasphemy. So I'll just wait on the book and hope it makes more sense to me than the videos have. And if it doesn't, then that's okay. I'll just put the system on the shelf with a few other things I find hard to understand.

I also believe Mike's forum rule about not to compare or attack aiming systems was an honest attempt to keep vintage flames under control. But the problem with it is in the definition of "attack" I suppose. Anyway, at least we're all having a conversation about it.

That's an inconclusive assumption and probably erroneous. I had candy bars in the 1st and 2nd grade but could still post in those threads now as a 40 year old. Everyone in here could post on the candy forum with their favorites who are older than I am. You're one of them.

In my original post there were 6 CANDY WEBSITES. Do you think all of them were kids? Here's one of them: https://community.qvc.com/t5/Kitchen/Favorite-Candy-Bar/td-p/3269319/page/2

QVC. Do you think kids watch or go on a QVC thread or TV station?

How do you know you aren't misinterpreting it as far as the members?

There's the answer! You don't know what there is to know and neither do the other antagonists.

But to any outsider, like I was a months ago, Dan makes a good case that questions seem to be viewed as blasphemy.

BULLLSHIT! We're sick of those kinds of attacks and know where they're leading. Do you think what he posted is the first time that's ever been said? GET SERIOUS!

So I'll just wait on the book and hope it makes more sense to me than the videos have. And if it doesn't, then that's okay. I'll just put the system on the shelf with a few other things I find hard to understand.

I totally understand why you said everything in the above post as you did.

YOU'RE ONE OF THEM!

LOU FIGUEROA
DAN WHITE
BRIAN CRIST
demwhit

demwhit shouldn't even count because he's a beginner in pool who is being introduced to aspects of the game we all knew years and decades ago but it's like magic to him. However, he chooses to be an anti-CTE lemming and piggybacks the posts like it has meaning.

When Mike disallows the four of you from mentioning the 3 letters CTE or getting involved in a CTE thread, the forum will be peaceful like it's never been before.

Here's the one from that thread I liked:

I guess I'd be considered a "Houligan" since I did visit with Hal a couple of times and did learn from him. That said, I didn't see anything wrong with Lou's review. I bought the DVD but haven't had time to watch it yet so I can't honestly say if I agree or disagree, just that I don't have a problem with it.
I guess my only hope is that this doesn't deteriorate too badly to where it gets closed or poofed by the mods.
