My Richard Black (see thread below), also with piloted ivory joint, plays great and has for 25 years. Everyone else who has hit with it agrees. I have been amazed at the negative comments about his cues here on the forums. Guess I've been lucky and never hit with a bad one from him.pharaoh68 said:How does it play? I don't mean to ignite old fires but I've had a lot of bad experiences with Richard Black cues. Many of them look great but the play leaves something to be desired.
the cue play is unsurpassed !! ive had aprox 15 richard black cues and every one played consistantly Great! i have also had other great playing cues(other makers) and got a bug to do somthing as little as change the tip, and then the cue playes terrible! also if somone makes another shaft for a cue it can change the playability!! I have 1/2 a million in cues and i really know a good hitting cue and richards in the top! one thing i look for in a cue is a solid hit (little deflection) and consistantcy and the ones i found to be that ,are in no pec order are black, hercek, szamboti, schick, for piloted cues and mcworter , rc3 , southwest for flat faced !!!! shaft wood and tips are crucial!! thanks Bill www.cornerstonecustomcues.compharaoh68 said:How does it play? You need to send me your Black and I'll do a thorough evaluation of it. It is a painstaking process that I created to unequivocally resolve disputes about the playability of high end cues. The process only takes twenty to thirty years! Let me know and I'll PM you the shipping address!
