Perfect Aim....Free Phone lessons..........

Everyone has a right to make a living and posting about their craft in the Main Forum or anywhere else is just fine with me.
The "Wanted/For Sale" forum is the appropriate venue for those folks who want to market and sell a product or service.

Sean,
Sorry, unfortunately your long and throrough posts are wasted on me. Just so you know, I'm not upset with you. I just think you should quit worrying about what other people post and post your good stuff, that's all.

From what I read in your posts you always seem to think I am after you. No one, including me, is trying to persecute you. I like your posts even if they are a bit "detailed".

I just think more people should learn to to use the ignore feature which is available to every person that posts on this forum. I know you know how to use it.

Make your posting on AZB pleasant and "tranquil", just put Geno and anyone else that you find upsetting on "Ignore". It will be good for health and your experience.

And just so you know, I have no thorn in my craw against "those people".

Everyone has a right to make a living and posting about their craft in the Main Forum or anywhere else is just fine with me. I don't harp on "those people" because they perform a service to this forum and they do give back to this forum, maybe not as much Geno does but they are still here offering help to those who ask. I just see that you as having a double standard is all. So you see, I don't harbor any angst against anyone.

Live and let live, that's my motto.

OK, I've done my best to answer at least some of your post, please don't bother asking me to answer more questions or to do more research. This forum is just a hobby for me and I don't have nearly as much time to interact as some people think.

Respectfully,
JoeyA

(And yeah, I'm still your friend) It's OK, to be different and not think the same way about everything. Respect is something that will carry all of us a long way and I respect you, your contributions to this forum and your friendship, no matter how hard you beat up on me in the forum.

Joey:

R-i-i-i-g-h-t. When you get cornered on the accusations you foist on other people, and you don't have an adequate answer or defense to those rebuttals, just "punt" and accuse the other person of needlessly getting wound up, being too detailed, you don't have time, etc. Double standard? There's *another* one right there from you, along with the one in point #4 that you didn't respond to.

About giving back to the forum related to Geno, and how "those other folks" give back to the forum, but "maybe not as much as Geno," that is certainly in contention. There is the question of what exactly has Geno "contributed" to the forum in the ways of real information (not sales pitches for his phone or in-person lessons). I think a lot of folks agree that while Geno's lessons in phone or in person may be great (of this I have no doubt), his postings here on AZB are devoid of real, tangible, usable information. They are just referrals to call or visit him to "get" the information, which to their core (by definition) are sales pitches for a product.

Joey, I don't think it's right that you're trying to put this on me. Like I said, I and others weren't saying anything until you started it, out of the blue. You rattled the cage, and have the nerve to be surprised when people respond? You need to remember your place in these matters -- not back-pedal.

Anyway, I'm done with this. Yes, I'm cool, and we're cool.

No sweat Sean. It's all good.

We just differ on how much of a contribution Gene is to AZB.

If I would have answered your #4, I would have said, "I try to put in some quality posts from time to time". Whew....

Rob Roy has been pushing DVD sales for months in the main forum.
I haven't seen anyone say a word about that.

The reason I bring this up is because I started a thread in the main forum to find out what a pool book that I have from the 1800 hundreds might be worth.
It was locked after three people responded and I was told by that Wilson guy that it was in the wrong place.

I have never sold or tried to sell anything in any of the forums at any time, I guess there is a double standard and it all depends on who you
are or who you know.

Maybe I should try and sell some DVD's in the main forum and see how that works out and report back on it. Riiight!

You have a pool book from the 1800's??? That's pretty cool. Bob Jewett has a pretty substantial collection. I'm sure if you PMed him he would tell you about the value of the book. Just make sure you tell him the condition.

What is the name of the book, btw?

The name of the book is: "The Game Of Billiards" by Micheal Phelan

Thanks Joey I have been in touch with Bob Jewett.

I only brought it up because once in a while I like to point out
the double standards used on AZ Billiards.

Have a great day JoeyA!

I don't think there's much intentional double standard.

It's more a "lack of time or interest" standard, imho.

AZ is the best site going for pool, regardless. I think most of us, even the marketeers, work to keep it that way.

There are different ideas about that situation, itsfroze, but here's mine. I think the issue is the amount of "bumping" that goes in certain threads, before the thread/poster starts to become really visible. Additionally, I think it also boils down to what value that poster otherwise offers freely to AZB. It's that "socking points into the ol' AZB bank" thing. I do recall seeing those threads from Robin, and yes, you are correct -- there should be even-handedness when it comes to unsolicited marketing on the forums. However, Robin's socked a lot of value into the AZB bank. She contributes freely, and opines freely as well. At least that's my impression of Robin -- I may be wrong.

Like Joey said, it's a perspective issue on how folks view Geno's "contributions" to AZB. Many of us view it as he has no points at all socked into the AZB bank -- from Day 1, when he first subscribed, it was a never-ending aggressive sales pitch. Others view Geno's "value" as what happens after a viewer calls / visits Geno, and takes his lessons -- meaning, you can't see the "value" of Geno's sales postings UNLESS YOU BECOME GENO's CUSTOMER first. That's a value-perspective question, and yes, I guess that is subjective in nature.

Additionally, the constant bumping of his threads -- not by the "mandatory homework assignments" of testimonials offered by his students -- but by Geno himself, is what raises the ire. Look at the copy of this thread on the Main forum. In the last couple hours, it was bumped twice by Geno himself in just a little over an hour.

Anyway, I just want to say you have a point. Even-handedness needs to prevail in these situations.

Sorry to hear about your experience with trying to sell that book. That sounds like a very interesting item, and I'm sorry I missed it!

Thanks for your input,
-Sean

Like I said I just trying to find out what it's value was Sean, if I was trying to sell it I wouldn't have it in my possession months latter, but thanks for rewording what I said

As far as a double standard it's not by over site as someone said, when a thread is on the 1st page almost all the time please don't try and tell me they didn't see it that's insulting.

Personally I couldn't care less if she tries to sell her DVD's in the main forum, just treat everyone equally, that's all I ask. Apparently that's asking too much. Have a great day.

Suffice to say that many here are tired of tripping over sales pitches in the main forum or anywhere else outside of the for sale section, and it is fairly common knowledge who the worst offenders are, so there is no need to name names or point fingers.

Somewhere along the line certain people I guess got the notion that as long as it isn't lumber, luggage, or slate you are selling then it's OK. The fact of the matter is ANYTHING for sale is supposed to be in the for sale section of this forum. It's probably seen most often in regards to instruction and instructional material. So it's very similar to being bothered by a sales pitch on your home phone at 9 PM even though you are on the "do not call" list. It's a nuisance and against the rules so people understandably come to resent it.

But there is a whole other side to it that is probably more pertinent that doesn't seem to get mentioned. This practice is blatantly rude and unfair to other providers of product that don't break the rules, limiting their pitches to the proper forum and obey the bumping rules. It's a big FU to guys like Eberle and Brumback that offer quality instructional material but play by the rules.

The other thing I don't get is that at any point in time if you look at the stats, there are usually close to the same number of people (sometimes more) in the for sale section as the main forum. And most likely these are the people looking for something to buy.

i won't mention who I'm talking about because I was informed that there's no need for that, but bye the way this is the For/Sale forum:thumbup:

I asked Jerry if I could market his DVD's (I'm no dummy) and he said YES!

Personally I hope to dissect the 3 DVD's for myself, if I could learn how to teach like Jerry in my lifetime I would LOVE it!!!

If your interested PM me, I've been selling them and getting close for another 100!!!

With such interest in this subject, maybe you could volunteer to peruse posts and identify those which break the rules.

I'm pretty sure, what with all this trouble lately, AZ could use the help.

I do try to be careful...I will for sure tone it down sorry. And you are right I'm a one trick pony I'm guilty of having sell sell sell on my brain way to much!!! Sorry guys...

Where to play in San Jose?

I'll be in the San Jose area all this coming week, where can I find some fun tournaments? Cupertino is where I'll be staying. Thanks!

Sorry about the phone lessons right now.......

I don't quite understand it but since this thread was put in the for sale section I've been flooded with calls to learn Perfect Aim on the phone.

I can't handle all the calls but I am calling one a day back to try and help. I'm in Kansas City Mo and it's gotten kind of crazy with the lessons. And playing in some of the weekly tournys also.

I'm still doing them so keep calling and I'll get to you when I can.

If you call you might just hit it lucky where I got a free half hour. So keep calling.

thanks again geno.........Tomorrow is plum full for sure. 4 lessons to do.:yikes: But that's a good thing.....
