With all the hit reality shows (Deadlest Catch, Guns, pawn, pickers, restoration) and many more on the history channel and discovery channel, this would be a good time to send those pool reality show sripts and idears in. Johnnyt

The producer of Deadliest Catch has signed-up to produce Pool, Poker and Pain. There's going to be some exciting news coming out shortly from Blair and the development of PPP.

I know the traditionalists don't wanna hear it, but PPP is the best chance to get anything pool related on TV... and actually get ratings. Let's face it -- the "real" audience isn't us hard-core pool players---- it's Joe Sixpack at home who usually buys UFC events and loves poker (and the hustling/gambling aspect of pool).

Poker = Super successful game
MMA = Super successful sport
Pool = Failed sport becoming extinct with no upside in sight

With Doug Stanley's magic touch, he might just be able to make pool entertaining to watch.

I completely agree Johhnyt. If people will watch truck drivers drive in the snow, they'll watch anything.

My idea is an MMA style camp in which you get some not quite professional level players on 2 different teams to battle it out on the table. You could have SVB as one coach and Darren Appleton as the other. They'll train the teams, have challenge matches that knock players out over a few more weeks. Then do a Mosconi Cup type finale with the remaining team members.

It's all in what people will risk up front. TV didn't pay truckers to invent their show, loggers to invent theirs, etc. Someone has to have the up front $ to tape the show and sell it to Tru TV, or other channel.

I for one think it would get a great following. How many players watching from home would be talking about how they could beat this person or that person.

I doubt it would have much to do with pool as it would a bunch of mental defectives acting out. We already know no one whats to watch pool period, not even players, who won't even pay a dime to watch world class players play.

What is fun to watch ?

Pool is boring because it is too
predictable and there isn't enough
money involved. Watching SVB run
racks isn't entertaining (too predictable)
for most folks.

Instead use B level or lower players and
up the money so that the excitement is
built upon whether or not he/she will
make that $1,000.00 eight ball shot!

Hell, I'd enjoy watching that !!!

I'm a chainsaw carver. I never in my wildest dreams thought a show about chainsaw carvers would fly. Now everyone who hears what I do asks me if I ever heard of "Saw Dogs".

I like your idea about have two different camps trained by a pro. Only I think we should have one from the HAMB school and one from the aiming systems persuasion. Sure to get the sparks flying.

Problem would be finding a pro who uses an aiming system.

Then there would have to be a "cue build off". Maybe An established builder against a wannabe cue builder. More drama to follow!

There is always a pool table in the "Ultimate fighter" reality show house, the only use it sees is when the nuts get drunk and start throwing balls and swinging cues...lol

I still think my idea would work well. Take someone like Alex and follow him around on the way to the US Open. Change players every season
