Phase three of buying a table, 63 gold crown installed in my home.

can you tell date of gc1 with serial number

I thought I read in some post on this site that you can contact Brunswick and give them your serial number and they can give you the info am I wrong?

I have a gold crown 1 and would love to know when it was made. Mine too has the adjustable feet.

okay, let's complete the color pallette...

Here is my 1962 (RKC - tell me if I'm wrong ;) ) GC1 in lovely aqua with skirts, ball return, curb feelers and foam dice.

And yes, I was lucky to get it with the matching wall rack, as well.

I love the way this table looks, very art deco lines, and it plays wonderfully.

A couple had it until they passed away leaving it to their son who kept it in storage at a very nice billard warehouse in eastern CT, hoping someday he would have a home with room to use it. That never came to be and he got tired of paying the storage fee. He advertised it and I jumped.

I sure enjoy seeing these beauties on here. Atthecat, your tangerine is magnificent!

Jimmycue, enjoy your table. I agree, that one was worth the 3 year wait!

I've posted a couple of shots of mine below.

Best,
Brian kc

Phase 3

Nice setup the rack and old cues are great too!
You could sell those off and get your money back any time you want.
If I ever start feeling better I am going to get mine together I bought a 1 owner GC 3 with ball return about 8 months ago.

Your table looks great and now all colors are present.

Nice deal

Buddy you bought a real live time capsule there! Very clean set.

My 1961 GCI has the date of manufacture on the underside of the feet. No leg levelers on mine, very early model. If your's has the figure 8 style brackets on the underside of the rail to receive the bolts it's pretty early 1962/63 model. Either way it's a GC I, it sold in 1964.

These tables have an unending lifespan. In 100 years this will be as solid as 50 years ago. The wood work was done by union carpenters, there is a union stamp on the ball return box somewhere. The rounded ends of the bases that hold the table up are made of solid "butcher block" type wood. The frame under the slate is like railroad ties. Unbelieveable old school construction. No better table made, ever.

Definitely an overengineered gem. This is when we got quite a good bang for our bucks.

And speaking of that, it is incredible that jimmycue received the invoice for his table. I will say that this sure was a lot of $$$ for the early 60's.

And the tru balance cues look fantastic.

BTW, I know where the small rubber nibs can be had for the top of the matching cue racks that keep the cues in place, if anyone needs any. Also, the same guy has numerous of the complete wall racks along with probably every other conceivable antique GC part you would ever need.

My table was missing the chrome triangle rack holder that sits below the ball box. Yep, he had one of those, too.

putting things in perspective

putting things in perspective I was wondering what a 1963 Impala sold for vs. the Gold Crown and I may be wrong but I think it was around $3,500.

Anyway you have a nice looking original classic table that in my uninformed humble opinion should only go up in value.

That brings up a question, these older Gold crown 1 & 2 tables are dirt cheep right now will something like this go up in value like a fine old cue?

I bought my gc 6100 because for the money there isnt a new table that would come close. It is now 48 years young and like you said gc are going for some really good prices currently so dont think values will climb like cues do.

Here's another blue one we found in an old house on the country club. Never recovered in 50 years! We just set it up when Johnny Archer and Nick Varner were coming, and to take some pics. Check out the accessory package that came with these things (if my pics work- first time:)) These days you get 4 chinese cues, a set of balls and that plastic bottle no one ever uses. This thing had 2 sets of centenials, the matching wall rack, a DOZEN cues, and all this other stuff. It really was a first class package. People keep telling me I should sell off the collectable stuff, the brown rubber bumpers, the cues and wall rack, etc. individually to make more money but I just think someone will appreciate the entire original package, all together. Like you said, it's a real time capsule.

WOW now that is a complete time capsule. Thanks for sharing, any chance an original catalog was in the stash of stuff for us to see?

No, they didn't have a catalog or the original invoice. The lady I bought it from was not the original owner of the house, so that stuff likely went with them. I did tell her to keep an eye out for them, with a small reward in it for her if she ever ran across either:) I'd love to have the catalog that a previous poster in this thread showed with the blue Gold Crowns on the front.
