Pick 3, it’s FREE!

All the recent Calcutta talk got me thinking and I came up with a few good ideas that might help room owners, spectators and tour directors keep things interesting and I’ll share a couple of them with you in a separate post. Right now I want to tell you how to Pick 3 for FREE.

With the Joss event at Turning Stone not being a seeded event and the draw not being announced till wednesday or thursday of next week I thought it would be fun to have a blind (truly blind) Calcutta where everyone here (no limit, even Marty can play if he doesn’t manage to get barred before the event starts) gets to pick 3 numbers between 1-128 and each of your numbers will represent the players that draw into those positions on the tournament chart. You can pick any 3 numbers you like, even the same number 3 times if you wish (for example 1,1,1 or 10, 50 & 127) but your picks are to be posted here, it’s first come first serve and you are not aloud to pick the same 3 number combination as anyone else and in case this happens the first person picking those numbers will be considered the true owner and the second person gets a nice pat on the back.

Your players will earn you points based on the positions they finish in the tournament. BUT I think we’ll just go with low score wins. (If anyone has a better idea of scoring or any of you mathematicians would like to volunteer to take charge of the scoring for me just let me know)
The only tiebreaker I thought of so far is if 2 or more peole have the same low total score that the person with the player that finished the best in the event would win the tie.

For now here’s an example of the scoring:
1st, 1 point
2nd, 2 points
3rd, 3 pts
4th, 4pts
5th, 6th , 5 pts
7th, 8th, 7pts
9th-12th 9pts
13th-16th 13 pts
17th-24th 17 pts
25th-32nd 25 pts
33rd-48th 33 pts
49th-64th 49 pts
65th-96th 65 pts
97th-128th 97 pts

Prizes are not set yet but I’m putting some up to start it and hopefully some others will contribute.

1 set of Aramith Aiming Balls $60 retail
1 Aiming Workout (2 DVDS and 1 workbook) $30
1 Racking Secrets DVD set $30
1 Guaranteed Improvement Drill book $12
1 Set of SharpShooter Aiming stickers $12
1 Box of 25 3rd Eye Stroke Trainers with DVDS $375

Picks are open until midnight Tuesday the 14th and if you would like to contribute any prizes post them here and we’ll all collaborate on how they should be distributed. I’m thinking the winner gets choice and then we’ll work our way down thru 2nd, 3rd and so forth. Or we can just decide ahead of time. We’ll work it out and have everything posted before wed the 15th.

One final note on prizes and picks:
Those who contribute prizes are responsible for getting them out to the winners. That way we all know what’s going on and who is responsible for what.
And just a note (JUST IN CASE) the player list posted earlier in Danas post IS NOT THE DRAW!

Yes I get to promote and yes I get to have fun at the same time.
So go ahead, pick 3 for FREE and post them here.

All constructive ideas and comments Welcomed!
Especially if you think of something that I have clearly overlooked!!!

Joe, I think this is a great idea! You're amazing... always coming up with something. LOL, do these things just come to you or do you never sleep because you're always up thinking up something new??? :)

Interesting.

My 3 picks: 124, 16, 76

Will be curious with the outcomes! :)

btw: I dont think someone should be able to post the same number 3 times. imo

great idea!

Thanks Joe!
Let me try 118, 88, 48

Your rule said no others may have the same combination of 3, but could someone else share ONE of these numbers?

Okay, this seems innocent enough......#4, EDIT just noticed 12 taken so #44, #61

I can look around and see if I got anything to contribute. Does it have to be pool related? I also think no picking the same number 3 times (kinda a waste?).
