Not sure what an umbrella is...but I'm kicking at the 3-ball...if it's too
awkward, I'm kicking at the 7-ball.....making sure I'm cutting it enough
to float whitey to the end rail.

We have a winner. I made the six caroming off two balls and got a shot afterward. Thanks to James Walden for teaching me to look for shots like this.

Shhhhh! Oh nevermind. A local guy who plays REALLY WELL, said that while I might be able to hang with him playing for cheap money, I would not be able to breathe when we started betting 10K a set.
Just thinking about betting 10K a set and my blood pressure shot up 30 points.
I have to agree with him, that since I am not used to gambling for that type of money, I would most likely choke, unless I am stealing. If you're not stealing and you're not used to betting high, you could easily succumb to the pressure of the match.
Even if you have the best of it and you're not used to gambling high, the possibility of you choking or not performing at your best is high on the natural order of things.

I'm not a 1 pocket player but I watch it sometimes and it seems to me the problem with your shot opening up the cluster on the rail is leaving the opponent a cross corner bank if your ball doesn't fall.
You're right but sometimes a shot like this lays well and even though you might leave a cross corner if you have balls in front of your hole then the incoming player has to think of what happens if they don't make the bank. You have to keep applying pressure.
I don't remember what I used. I just focused on sending the object ball to the correct side of the ball by the rail and keeping the CB on the other side of the table. I did not get out on that shot but I did win the game.
And lost the match.
Old school one pocket prevailed as Mr. Fowler gave me a pilot's license to take frequent fliers.
I believe I met and talked to Mr. Fowler in Tunica at the 2013 Southern Classic. If he's the man I'm thinking of.....and I'm almost 100% positive he is.....he was extremely nice, but I've forgotten his first name.
We never played, but I had seen him at other events in the past and decided to strike up a conversation. He wore a cap that said "1P Hall of Fame", I think.

Very impressive name dropping John !..But if James Walden had to teach you to look for obvious shots like that, you are in big trouble....Lou has been shooting those, since he was 12 yrs. old !..

HAHAHA - you are a comedian's comedian. Lou wouldn't shoot that shot if someone had a gun to his head. He might see it but he won't shoot it.
The flat fact is that James shoots these shots all the time that even the other experienced one pocket players pass on. I have learned from him to recognize these opportunities.
And it doesn't even matter if Lou knows and shoots these shots - he has to get them first. What hasn't done since he was 12 is bet anything more than $20 a game in one pocket and I have been betting on my own pool game EXACTLY since I was 12.
I am not at all worried about Lou. After I read that he missed a two foot shot with ball in hand against his last opponent at DCC and after I personally witnessed him missing several similar shots at DCC I have zero fear. I think he gets paralyzed under pressure and will DOG IT.
Maybe not. Maybe he will play like a champion and thoroughly outplay me. If that happens I will say I underestimated him, lick my wounds and keep on going.....into Cue and Cushion to play one hole against the great guys there - where Lou is forbidden to tread.
From there I will go to LA and play the guys there Lou is afraid to play.
Then I might head back to the break and play Dale's son whom Lou is scared of.
Next week I will be in Olathe to play in the Midwest Nine Ball Tour's one pocket event and I will match up with a couple people Lou won't play.
In other words, win or lose I already won by taking this journey. I wouldn't have met and played against a great guy like William Fowler if not for Lou's "corporation" chirping in his ear that he has the nuts against me. As Stan said to me last me last night if someone offered me $10,000 for my experiences during all this I wouldn't take it, and I wouldn't.
It would be nice if we could get someone, ANYONE besides you to comment on YOUR skill level at one pocket !...Mr, Fowler, or Mr. Walden would be fine, but I have to assume they don't want to embarrass you, by exposing what they REALLY think of your game !...So they just let you flap your gums, and live your 'dream'!
It is going to be very humbling for you when reality sets in..You will have to do more than insult Lou, over and over...You will have to BEAT him, and win the cash !...That's why I'm betting against you !.. Fortunately you have filmed enough footage of yourself for me to observe ALL your weaknesses, and believe me, I DO know what to look for !..I would strongly advise you to forfeit the 3K, and save the 7K :sorry:
