Not too sure if these have been posted here or not, but I thought they would be interesting to those that haven't had the pleasure.

Back in the day there used to be so many tusks they burned them...in that first pic they probably burned those...makes you wish you go back in time...

Interesting, yet disturbing at the same time . . . :(
Mr H

Yes Mr. H. very disturbing indeed.

If anyone has ever wondered what my objection to the use of ivory is, consider this. We are guests on this planet. God has invited us into His garden so that we could experience paradise. The first thing we do is trample his orchids and uproot his roses. Now that we're bored with that we start killing off all His pets and justify it by calling it sport.

I hope that no one ever wonders why we aren't asked to enter His house.

I have seen those "largest tusks ever" at the British Museum...WOW

we have killed a lot of elephants for some white material...too bad

Using ivory doesn't really bother me since elephants can live without tusks. What bothers me WAY more is elephant ear wraps and cases. :shakehead: But oddly enough, I don't mind lizard or gator at all. Go figure.

And yes, those are ivory balls in my avatar . . . :o

A very true statement indeed.

God invites every man into his house. All he will ask is that you wipe your feet before entering.

Those photos are from a bygone era. Nothing like that happens today. As for Elephant wraps or covered cases, Poachers do not take the time to skin the Elephant. You buy Elephant hide, it was imported from the Elephant's country under strict CITES laws, no exceptions. These laws were put in place to protect endangered species and only legally harvested hide makes it's way here.
