Should the promoters acquire the proper Philippine Government permits for WPC 2008, if done here, then there's no reason for the BMPAP to not support it.

What's the GAB?

So, if I read this correctly, Raya got all the necessary permits to run the WPC in 2006 and 2007 without going through the BMPAP. But to do it again this year, they need to go through your organization, the BMPAP. To get the necessary government permits, they must first have BMPAP approval (sanctioning) now. Is there something I'm missing here?

There's a disparity between our statements. I just mentioned 2006.

The reason behind their not going through the BMPAP for the previous years is because the BMPAP didn't exist then. The BMPAP was accredited as the Professional Pool/Billiard organization here by the PROPER Government Agency last February 2008 so RAYA didn't have a BMPAP to deal with. Now they have to deal with BMPAP first for all locally situated events to make sure that they have the participation of the BMPAP member players. Second, the BMPAP Organization needs to approve this event to make sure that its member players are not getting the short end of the stick. There shouldn't be a problem with BMPAP cooperation if everything is, as you say, honky-dorry.

Here in the Philippines, anything concerning AMATEUR cuesports deal with the BSCP. Anything that deals with PROFESSIONAL cuesports deal with the BMPAP. That is the legal sport structure of the land. It's the same with all other sport here where the Amateur association under the POC has a Professional counterpart under the GAB.

I'm just wondering how the BMPAP players got the "short end of the stick" in the previous two WPC held in the Philippines.

hi jay...the bottomline of this is that..these YEN guy,never existed prior to BSCP's inception..i never heard of him...pool as it is in the PHil. became what it is today- 'on top' - not because of YEN...this guy- and trust me i have no axed to grind here...this is a "typical dirty coniving filipino politician type of person with ulterior motive"- i know that is harsh- but i saw that right from the very beginning..it didn't take long before he showed his true colors---i know some stuff too on the underground news of Pinoy pool...

..now he shows up on the scene..somewhat being credited for bringing wpc in the phil...partly, yes..but thatis not to discount his big profit...wpc is a matchroom event- and he got 10Million from the govt. to do be a part of it...otherwise--this guy has never 'really toiled and sacrifice a lot money and passion to bring pool to it's highest level like the puyats' and perry are doing...

....jay have you ever heard of him prior to wpc...do you wonder why the pillar of pool in the phil- efren and busta..who where never involved and against poloticizing pool are not on BSCP...

...yen has no credibility as a person...they allowed him get into AZB like he's a clean guy..this is a dirty guy-though he's only around for couple of years...

...this type of person are the ones that we hate most in the phil. because they look smart and wears suit but are wolves that have ulterior motive - that is to exercise dominance and profit financially...

...GAB is not so stupid not to recognized what's going on..

Jay it's my fervent hope that you're not infected by YENs deceptive venom. by siding to this guy...pool should remain pool and not evil politics that he's trying to make this into...why is it the real pro players hate him...i will call my Kumpare Marlon M see if i can convince him to see the whole issue here- but he has to decide for himself...

Thanks for this information. First of all, I am taking no side in this. I know Perry and Edwin also. And I like them both. I am just trying to learn more about what is going on over there, and why. Yen has always been respectful to me as well. Just because he is new to the scene, I don't hold it against him. My understanding is that he and Ted Lerner were mainly responsible for bringing the WPC to the PI.

I hope that the WPC can remain in the PI for at least one more year. It's been a wonderful experience for me personally to visit there, play pool, hang with the Pinoy crowd, gamble on matches and work on the WPC. Did I mention the lovely girls too? That should have been first! :)

..jay forget about cherice...try ap wine....i've been to almost all great rockers and great bands ...no one sings live like Arnel Pineda...if he's this good in live..then his studio recording is scary good-that's what legendary producer kevin shirley said-this is history in the making...
