Can anyone recommend places to play near this area? I have heard of California Billiards Club and Shoreline Billiards but am not sure how close they are. I will be there this Thursday through Saturday.

They are not close. A good place to play is Crown Billiards on San Ramon Blvd in San Ramon. It's much closer than those other ones you mentioned, though still a fair drive. (20 - 30 mins)

I am sure there is something out closer to pleasanton, but I don't get out there much.

The California Billiard Club in Mountain View is a must visit for a pool player who has not been there. This weekend they have a one pocket tournament on Saturday & nine ball on Sunday. $25 entry for each tournament & the best players in Northern Ca usually show up for each tournament. It is an easy 1/2 hour drive from Pleasanton. Crown Billiards is closer and a nice smaller room, but not anything like Ca Billiard Club. John Henderson

Crown

I grew up in the area, and used to shoot at Room with a Cue in Dublin, which is the city next to San Ramon. It was a great room with about 25 or so gold crown tables. Then I came home from school one summer and it had closed down! :( Not sure what happened, anyone know?

Anyway, Crown Billiards is the closest place to shoot now. Its a small room with around 10 tables, but still a nice room to shoot at.

I'm actually heading back home this weekend too from Friday night to Sunday night. If you wanna meet up sometime and shoot a little let me know!

Yeah, I played at Room with a Cue a few times. Definitely sad to see it close down. Cue Connection in Newark was another sad loss. Anyway, if you're both make it to Crown Billiards drop me a line and I'll stop by and shoot some with you. Rubyron, if you need a ride out to California Billiards (worth the 30 min drive) drop me a line. I can always use an excuse to go there to play. =o]

How about the Broken Rack in Emeryville ... ? It's a full-service Pool Room with plenty of big tables ...

Yeah Broken Rack is good, especially if you want to play some one-pocket.

On Friday nights there is a good bar tournament in Concord, within a few minutes of Pleasanton. The tournament is at Vinnie's; it's a $15 entry fee, double elimination, and starts at 8pm. The bar tables have simonis on them too. Pm me if you end up going because I might be going also.

Crown Billiards in San Ramon is the closest. I live in Pleasanton and am a regular there. Its located off of San Ramon Valley BLVD. Roughly 10-15 min. drive depending where your coming from in Pleasanton. If you want to hit some, give me a buzz.

I heard they lost their lease. That shopping center was not very healthy and a developer was going to buy it to put in condominiums or something. But I see on the Google Maps satellite image that the same old building is still there.

Its a shame, I really loved playing there. its where I started, so I kinda had this connection to it.
Well, I'm going back up home in a few days, might check out Family billiards in SF or California. :D

Yeah, it was around 01, 02. I subbed in an 8ball league there more than a few times!
Maybe so, I was a chubby little Japanese kid, not many of those at that hall, but I played with a lot of people there. All really nice guys! :)

Mikey!!! I just quit my job this month .. had I known I was going to quit, I'd have quit last month and gone to VF.

Met up with DJ last Saturday at CBC and he got to see some of my "stash" including ebony Tasc, bad-ass ebony/burl B. Hunter, refined Sugartree ebony Titleist and kick ass playing MasonH blackwood cue ... come on by sometimes. I'm back playing now ... still suck.

Hello,
I am suprised that nobody talked about Edgie's in Milpitas. Right off of the freeway. I am running a BCA league on mondays. PM if you are interested. Crown is the closest to San Ramon, nice tables and well mantained. California Billiard Club is the action room, no doubt about that, unless you want to drive to Hard Times in Sacramento. There is also a place in Tracy with awesome Olhausen tables but poorly maintained unfortunatelly.
