I'm going to be in Raleigh, NC on business next week - any recommended places to play?

Thanks ahead of time.

Do a search under Raleigh. This was just discussed the other day, my favorite is The Brass Tap on Capitol Blvd.

Just so we can have them all in one place, here's the current list of pool rooms in the Triangle area that I'm aware of:

Buck's Billiards - Located in Cary on Buck Jones Rd., 16 9' tables (mostly gold crowns, table 7 is shimmed but not too tight), well-kept, has a kitchen with pretty good food

Bailey's Pub & Grille - Located in Chapel Hill, 2 9' tables and 8 8' tables, more of a bar/pub than a pool hall, but a decent place to take non-poolplayers

Brass Tap & Billiards - Located in Raleigh on Capital, 18 9' tables and 4 bar boxes including one diamond and a couple of tightly shimmed tables, most action of the area poolhalls and regular tournaments multiple nights a week

Brown's Billiards of Raleigh - Located in Raleigh on Atlantic Springs (near Capital), 10 9' tables (1 diamond, 9 GCs), small kitchen, mostly league play

Carolina Billiards - Located in Garner, 6 9' tables, I've never been there

Cleveland Draft House - Located in Garner, 6 9' Olhausens, more of a restaurant than a pool hall, good food though

High House Billiards - Located in Cary on High House Rd near downtown, 10 9' GC V's, fairly new place with well kept tables

Hot Shots - Located in Cary off Hwy 64, 10 9' tables and a bar box, tables are usually in mediocre condition, balls are sometimes mismatched sets

M&R Sports Bar - Located in Durham, 6 9' diamonds and a bar box, I've never been there

On The Snap Billiards - Located in Fuquay-Varina, 10 9' diamonds, I heard they got them recovered, but haven't been there recently since it's a bit out of the way

Oscar's "Q" & Bar - Located in Chapel Hill, 10 9' tables, I haven't been there in a while, but they were in good shape last time I was

Pantana's Pool Hall - Located in Raleigh on Hillsborough St., 10 9' GC's currently in mediocre condition, table 10 is shimmed pretty tight, mostly league play and college students, my home room (more out of loyalty and convenience than objective assessment, in case you can't tell)

Sharky's Place - Located in Raleigh near Glenwood Ave., 7 9' tables (old olhausens, I think) in pretty rough condition, bar food and lots of dart boards

Snookers Sports Pub - Located in Raleigh off Wade Ave., 10 9' Gandy's, one of them is shimmed, lots of league play and the occasional tournament or cheap action

The Green Room - Located in Durham, 10 9' tables, I've never been there

Crawfish here on AZ is a cool dude and knows that area well
Might want to shoot him a PM. If you get there and cant get anything going I will call Craw for you
Have great trip

Hot shots have had the tables done recently. I was there last week while I was in town on business. I played on the back 2 tables in the corner both played well.

On The Snap has great tables. 10 minutes from Cary. They just rearranged the place so the table layout makes more sense. The food is good, prices are reasonable. They have APA in there on Tues and Thurs so it's tough to get a table on those nights. Had my pick of the litter on Monday and Wednesday nights though, not crowded at all. The 2 tables closest to the entrance have 41/2" pockets, the other 8 are slightly more generous.

Brass Tap is where I usually play. They have tourneys every Mon, Thurs, and Fri starting around 8:30, w/ a break contest right before. Tues is packed because its league night. Sun and Wed is usually a little slower, and Sat nights are usually packed with a lot of non pool playing types.

They open daily at 10 (12 on Sun). Go to the third row of tables to find action pretty much any time of day in there. A lot of one pocket players in there if that's what you're looking for, but you can easily find 9 ball games too.

MANY tables to play on in Raleigh, NC !!!

....that adds up to 153 tables...certainly you can find a game among that many tables!!!
