Players brand cues?

A friend of mine is considering buying a $50 Players brand sneaky pete. I told him I wasn't sure it was such a good idea since there may be a good reason that Players cues are so cheap.

I've never shot with one though, so I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on the brand, and if they're bad, then how bad.

Thanks!

i work in a poolroom, and we sell over a thousand players a year, and have been doing so for 15 yrs. We have never had to return one to the company, no problems with durability, or problems of any kind! You probably can't beat them as far as bang for the buck!

I agree. Players cues offer alot of cue for the reasonable pricing. Lucasi, Fury, Axiom and Kaiser cues are economical values as well.

I have Players cues that came with my home table. They play pretty good for the price. I recommend them as an inexpensive cue.

I had a Players jump break cue and it did the job. The linen wrap started to come undone after only 6 mos. though. No other problems but I only had the cue for year and a half.

Some of you may remember my wife picking one up at a yard sale for 20 bucks with a hard case lots of extries...

Anyhow this thing got passed around the pool hall one evening and I got quite a few offers....the hit or feel was pretty agreeable to everyone who hit a few with it.I liked it fine myself fwiw,

That was my very first cue. It was dark blue w/ white points.

When I get my pool table installed in my house I'm going to buy some players as my extra sticks for visitors to use. Definately a good cue for the money.

Players is the best choice for a beginner's cue. They last, they play fairly well, and they are not costly. I recommend Players over Action cues, but to each his own.

A ~$50 Players is easily a hundred times better than any Walmart-bought-Budweiser, five-peice, or other pine-shafted garbage.

The next jump up from there will be $150-300 range, and at that point the cues are probably about ten times better than the Players. Just to give you the big picture...from this point on, you pay for materials, inlays, more points, veneers, and name.

i know a couple of very talented players that use players cues. it's not bad for a starter cue.

I would buy a wrapless curly maple Dominiak WD1020 for $119 in a heartbeat before I would buy a Players cue... oh, wait a minute... I have... believe that I'm up to 10 of 'em by now. ;)

one of the best players I know plays with a Player's Sneaky w/ a meucci red dot shaft.

I have two Players cues, a 21 oz. model C9912 w/Moori med. tip and a 19 oz. model G21T1 w/Sniper tip installed. They are a decent cue for the price. They both are stiff hitting cues. The one I have a Sniper tip on I have all the confidence in the world in. I have used it successfully in local tournaments. Tell your friend to go ahead and get one. Unless the $50 he's gonna spend should be feedin' his family or something similar, he won't regret the purchase.

Hell my first cue was a Players........lasted a good while.

The Sneaky Pete's are fairly decent IMO.... so are Actions Pete's

Right now my break cue is a Players

Buy it! I have a Players sneaky and it hits great for the money. I bought it to have something cheap that I could bang around and not worry much about. My other cues($1500+ each) were stolen right after I bought this and it was my main player for about a year. I was surprised that it actually played good. I just bought a cue that probably retails around $1000 and I went back to playing with my Players after a few weeks. It also breaks apart for a jump cue, so I really don't need much else when playing with it.

I bought a players sneaky a year ago for the purpose of breaking jumping, a stick I could be the hell out of and not care. It has performed very well especially for $50.

I have the Players rosewood sneaky (the standard two-piece). I think it hits quite well, especially for the price. And as far as durability--well, my cue has been through hell and highwater. For years, I kept it in the trunk of my car in the sweltering heat of eastern San Diego. Still straight as an arrow.
Gave one as a gift to another player who roams this forum; don't know if she still has it or how well it's held up over the years. I would definitely recommend it, however, especially as a first cue or as a beater.

One of the best import cues on the market.
