Players showing up with thugs.

Anyone see a particular well know (fast like lightning) player show up at the big 9-ball event in Calgary with one of the Irish thugs at his side? The guy was putting pressure on various innocents to put up some cash for 'his player' or risk offending him. This sort of gangster behaviour should be banned from events and any players involved in actual extortion should not be allowed to participate ever again in tournament action.

What this guy did was just walk away...disgusted and afraid for his personal safety...so he didn't go back for the rest of the tournament...so the event lost a spectator (a big fan!) and the sport gained another black mark.

Will Not Happen In Florida! (NEW LAW)

elliott,

New law here in Florida giving victims the right to shoot to kill if they feel threatened. It's perfect for me and thousands of victims of crime to be able to defend ourselves.

Move to Florida and you will be able to protect yourself. :)

Please give his name and description. It's to protect other upstanding representatives of this game.

just to make this whole ordeal fair...........if he's going to post the name of the player..........then he better be ready to post his name as well.........as these are serious accusations.

he should also be able to produce a few other people who saw this.

not saying it didn't happen, but we all know what happens when rumors get started.

if it happened the way it is portrayed, the above mentioned shouldn't be a problem.

thanks

While I'm gonna come out and say it. If its not LUC SALVAS come out and say the name, cause you painted a pretty good picture of LUC.

Wow, that is scary. It is also unfortunate that the game attracts these sorts of individuals. It takes all kinds I guess. As the other guy said, that is close to time to defend yourself.

[If your going to say something like this...NAME the player and PUT UP YOUR NAME...this crap gets started thsn the rumor mill goes all for bull#$%@^t
Just my opinion

Yes, I agree that these are serious allegations, and that the post has been presented in a way that certainly points to Luc, so if it's not meant to be pointed at him, Elliott needs to clarify his post. This is all very surprising, as Luc always seems to conduct himself with etiquette and civility. Still, as we all understand, anything's possible.

Anyone have a view on whether Elliott, if he truly saw what he claims to have seen, should have notified either the room proprietors or tournament director of his suspicions? What steps might he have taken if he recognized somebody in attendance as representing a threat to others in attendance?

The guy has 3 posts total. He has no credibility, so what he said means squat. If he's too chickenshit to leave a name then this thread should be deleted.

I met Luc and he is the nicest person i have met to date. A real stand up guy, went out of his way played some challenge matches. I can't really see Luc doing this.

Anyways 3 posts, lets get Sniper to post up....

I get the impression that it was not the well known player, rather the thug doing the pressing. That of course leave the question, did the player condone the alleged activity.

Anyone who has met Luc knows he is one of the nice guys in the game and a total class act. When I was there I saw (and talked with) Luc and certainly didn't see him with any goons. The description sure sounds like Luc but trust me Luc wouldn't do something like that, I wonder if it could be Frenchie Boutain? He plays fast like Luc and was at the tournament but I don't even know what he looks like so who knows

I know lot's of people who were there and will ask around, unless I find a credible source that says otherwise I don't believe this BS for one second.

I saw elvis with some thugs too..i think one of them was john f kennedy.he seemed to have bulked up...apparently i have about 5X posts..so that means i am close to 20times more credible than elliot. So believe you me, when i say i saw elvis and his jfk thug at the SML tourney.

ok, i'd say its safe to say that this thread is officially BULLSHIT. it should be deleted........anyone can come on here and read this and get the wrong impression of someone, and the accuser has not backed up anything he said with any sort of fact yet.

MIKE..................DELETE THIS THREAD PLEASE.

thanks

I don't know who Elliot is but I can vouche for the gist of what he alluded to. The Canadian player is NOT Luc Salvas but is indeed Alain "Frenchie" Boutain.

But Frenchie is not the guilty party. His backer/muscle-man Tom Coady is the 'thug' that went unnamed. I was at the Calgary tourny and witnessed a fair bit of that strong-arming. The only reason I was not on the receiving end of that as well was I run into the duo frequently on the Pacific Northwest tournament trail and Coady knew better to try that on me.

As Frenchie went out one-two at SML Calgary that left Tom Coady lots of time to drum up matchups for him. To my knowledge nothing ever came to fruition. Tom's "muscle man" demeanor and aggressive come-ons were, in my opinion, a big factor.

Frenchie -- having nothing but time on hand -- then entered the amateur Canadian BCA Men's Master Singles which was held at the same venue the Olympic Oval. He sliced through that field like hot knife in butter, winning $1,000 and a few sizeable side bets along the way. But overall it was a dry trip for him and Tom Coady.

For those that are curious about Frenchie's speed, check out:

While "Machinegun" Luc is renown for his rapidfire style, Frenchie is even faster. The only reason Frenchie stays under the radar is he is strictly a regional big-money player and rarely enters even the local big tournaments.

One final observation: Tom Coady also tried to muscle in on Shane von Boening, aka the "South Dakota Kid", offering to take him on the road, not knowing the Kid's uncle/backer was with him at the tournament. He did the same thing with Kid Delicious and almost got laughed out of the arena.
