Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. I hope you accomplish your goal! :)

I checked out the YouTube promo, and I thought it was very well done. It truly captured pool in a bar environment.

I enjoyed David Parker's comments. There were a few cameos of Hillbilly.

The majority of pool players must have known where the Tractor Supply was to audition for this filming. :grin-square:

My opinion, if they are targeting the action players for this show, I think they need to film some action players who *know* how to bark; professional barkers, if you will. :p

When I attend pool events where there barkfests occur, it usually draws a large crowd.

The pool purists will not enjoy "Playing With Sharks," but those who enjoy action and everything associated with it will.

That said, I, for one, can't wait to see what comes next. :)

Hey, I enjoyed the UTube teaser.
By the way, my name is Levin Beilsperg. If I can be of any assistance to you
please let me know.

I thought the YouTube video was pretty good.

Anything that can generate interest in pool is good in my opinion. I'd love to see this make it to TV and be successful, although I would be surprised. Not that I want to see the gambling side of pool emphasized, but let's face it, tournament pool is boring to most of the general public. A show like this could generate interest from non-pool players and maybe boost the sport a bit.

I did think the directions in the first few posts were pretty funny. Since I live about 1000 miles away from there, I had never heard of Alvin. The follow up clarification with the tractor supply was where I had to laugh.

I don't know......this doesn't make pool players look very smart.......maybe because most of the players were drunk during the interview. The best part was when they focused on the one money game. It needed more of that and it sure could use some Jay's, Keith's and Danny's to beef it up with some road stories.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am open to any suggestions that will make this a success. Any thing that helps pool would be a success for all of us.

Looking back the tractor supply part of this thread is funny. Its good to accept you are so excited about something you type with out really reading it before you post it.

The demo reel was to see what type of product we can produce on the road. We will be filming some of the bigger tournaments in Texas and the southwest starting next year. We are not going to try and be U Stream. They have a great product and we are not trying to document the game itself but the players who play it. We want a show based around the characters not the play by play action report.

Tournaments are where we will start but once we finalize our characters who knows where we will end up.

We want to show pool in the best possible way but like others have pointed out, big gamble and lots of trash talk is what people want. Advertisers will only support a show that lots of people watch.

I will post our next video soon. Also if you want to stay update find us on facebook at playing with sharks

Adam,
The fact that you are here checking on feedback shows that you want this project to succeed. You'll get the kinks worked out. Pool could really use more exposure it it's done right. Best of luck with this.

That demo reel was great. Those are real people with a lot of grit. Thank for sharing, looking forward to seeing more.

Great job Adam. You've got the beginnings of a solid project there. The bolded part above shows me you're moving in the right direction. I've long said that the way to get people to watch pool is to focus on the characters - we've got LOTS of characters! In my opinion, that's the reason ESPN has done so well with poker - they focus on the players and their stories as much or more than they do on the poker. That's how you grow you viewership - again, IMO.

Best of luck and if you ever get to the DC area let me know if I can help.

Mike

Good luck on the project Adam !

Anything which brings more attention to the game of pool is a good thing

Adam are you a player or is there a player advisor associated with your production. Someone in the production should REALLY know pool. Accu Stats know pool, TAR knows pool the ESPN people do not seem to know pool that is why there producitons come out like it does. Pool knowledge will be a major plus for your production. Good luck to you.

I play and have been playing for years but not on any level I would be shooting my mouth off about. Its easier for me to make a living holding a camera than a cue. I do have a player adviser that I am using currently.

Also we have a our shoots lined up for early next year but if anyone knows of a good sized event in Texas at the end of December please let me know. We have some dead time between Christmas and New Year and we have some new cinematic equipment I would love to play with before next year. Thanks

If you are truly serious about this then you really should considr taking in the Derby City Classic......this is an even that showcases the personalities and gambling you are looking for......you can gather enough prime video footage in 2 weeks that would take months of traveling to do otherwise.

Good luck with your project!!

Gary

You could just follow SVB around as he travels the world and puts himself into big money games against all sorts of characters?

Right on, I can see this getting more attention. Maybe less of the metal music during the transitions... some other kind of music with a more broad appeal.
