for 200 you could probably do better. the pic is too far away.
Hard to tell from the pic. It may be a Player.
Maybe he did pay $200 for it. The cue market is seriously depressed though so I hope he isn't looking for a lot for it used.
It looks like a fairly plain cue, so $200 sounds really high for a plain Player, even fancy ones are generally under $100. But he could have simply overpaid too.
Generally Player cues are considered "budget" cues. They're not bad, and some swear by some of their new shafts.
But you can likely do much better.
Why don't you tell us what you are looking for and what your budget is?
I bet you can get some good suggestions. Maybe even some good offers. There are always "value" cues floating around here.
I just sold a cue to a friend in perfect condition that would probably be on par with that cue and I let it go for $40, but that was a friend that needed a cue. His was stolen. I was going to give him the cue but he insisted on paying for it.

I bought a brand new Player brand sneaky for 99 bucks. I don't use it much.
maybe a Mali.
That shaft has seen better days. Does not look like it's worth $100 in that shape.
Tons of new and used cues around $100 you can get that are nicer.

nontrad19, not the best deal. Keep shopping. You can do better for your Dad. For about the same money you can score a new Schmelke cue that plays very nice. Remember this is your Dad were shopping for....and besides it looks like someone has used red chalk on that cue.
There is a gorgeous green original Ray Schuler cue on ebay right now.
