Raist,

This has been a common scam here in the US for several years now.

The check is forged or a fake. Even if it appears to clear your bank, it will bounce several weeks to several months later. Don't deposit the check.

I would suggest writing to the bank with a copy of the check, reporting a possible scam, and asking them what to do. There is probably a law enforcement contact already handling this group.

There is no possibility that this is a legit transaction.

Chris

If any thing came through the USPS contact the Postmaster General they really get after people like this.It becomes a federal crime then and you have the Government on your side.

the scam is know as a 419 scam. that is the nigerian criminal code for internet fraud. if you're interested in learning more about it go to a search engine like dogpile and type in 419 scam. there is actually a sub culture of folks who like to scam the scammers and eat up the scammers time, energy, and money by making them believe they're buying into the deal. that's too much work for me, however reading some of the stuff they write is quite funny.

Just send the sender an email telling him that your bank checked with his bank and told you to mail the check back to them cuz they made an error and ask for their return address so you can return it. A friend did this and the scammer was never heard from again. Or just tell them that you contacted the local police and that they are checking to make sure the check is good before you mail them their merchandise. you won't ever hear from them again in all likely hood........................mike

that is a good idea.. and for kicks you can also tell them that you decided to keep your cue and your cashing the check and sending them didley squat..lol.. even though its not a real check.. i can imagine there faces when they see that your being greedy and keeping the cash..lol..

scammers must all die.. they have been doing this on ebay too with motorcycles for a long time.. i have a friend who has seen his bike on there a few times.. they steal your pics from online and even decribe the bike perfect like they have it.. its not right..

It's a scam. Just for the heck of it I'd tell them that I have a cousin in Athens who is a police detective and I'm going to send the cue to him along with their check so he can deliver it in person. That should send them running for the hills.

Thats a good one!!! Fun to mess with these people!!!

I dont think i want to mess with these people.. Too much trouble on my side The right way is probably to would be avoid or ignore them i guess..

Thanks for all the advice guys

Yes I have some "dealer from Japan" e-mailing me about my collection now. I told him my cues weren't for sale. He then wanted to trade me and I could tell that he had not a single clue as far as cues.

I sincerely doubt that law enforcement even gives one crap about these internet scammers and that they will forge on taking people over the net with impunity for many years to come.
