Please pray for Grady.

Mr. Grady Matthews....

God bless you Grady, and may you be in His hands always.

As usual, well said Mr. Incardona.... and not only was your rivalry/friendship with Mr. Matthews a large part of your life....it was a large, entertaining and educational part of ours, the younger players. What you have both done for the world of pool, and competition with class, goes beyond what I have the words to convey. So thank you both.

Grady, you and your family and friends are in my prayers,
Brandon Lee Spitler.

Seeing Grady at the DCC tournament was special, he looked happy and at peace being there. A few days ago I went on to Facebook and brought up Grady's pictures, and I was pleased to see him look so at peace with his daughter Marie. I felt that my friend was in a place that he was ok with, and that made me feel good. I'm sad as many are that we're losing a special person, and I was fortunate to have shared a large part of my life with him. We played many times, we did commentary together that will never be forgotten, and we argued endlessly about ...well just about everything. But we both know that we love and respect each other, and that's what really counts. So goodbye my friend and I will pray for you, and when you get to heaven wait for me, because we can continue our ongoing rivalry. Mr. Mathews.

In my prayers,
Billy Incardona

Well said, Billy. You'll be in my thoughts Grady, be at peace.

John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” (Jesus speaking)

Nothing is ending Grady.... This is just the end of one journey and the beginning of the next. Go give all the pool gods hell... God knows they need to get beat on

You are a true legend Grady and you will forever be in our thoughts and stories.. A legend never dies but again moves on to a higher plane. Godspeed and you are in all of our prayers :(

Peace...

cyco; i'm not Christian but i prayed for Grady exactly as you asked [except for that one small difference]

i can't remember clearly but a few years ago Manwon wrote a piece about Grady stopping by his parlor for a day of pool and talk. Manwon was very happy to have him and it was a great success...

from az i feel i knew him. maybe so strange to say as so many feel the internet is so impersonal. but i assure you i speak the truth

to Marie and family and friends i wish you all that you wish for...

all the best,
miles

Dang just one more post from an upset Grady would make me feel better.

I hope to see you some time you have my prayers.

I am not a spiritual man by any means, but I can say that I will never forget the night that Grady showed up while I was running the stream for TAR at DCC late one night and I turned off the volume and got to talk to him during a 1 pocket match. It was a truly inspiring and educational event in my life. I'm proud to say that I was a part of Grady's life and hope I am somewhat remembered in his memories. I wish him and his family the best.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I never had the chance to meet Grady but I always loved listening to his commentary on Accu-Stats videos and had a few short conversations with him here on AZ. I sent him some questions one time and he could have easily just brushed them off, but he didn't. He took the time to write out the answers and for that, I thank him.

Godspeed, Grady.
MULLY

I have always envisioned if heaven exists that there is a huge pool hall there. The tables are prefectly straight as are the cues. The rails play perfect, the cloth is the perfect speed, the pockets are cut exactly right. In that pool hall you have people like Greenleaf, Mosconi, Crane, Hoppe, Louis Roberts, Ginky, Tony Ellin, Mcgoorty, and countless other pool players of the past, both famous and not so famous. Even us hackers are there picking our matches with the people we match up well with, and taking the opportunity to see epic battles of the past world champions from different eras battling it out.

Now that pool hall is about to get one more champion and legend walk through the doorway. Alot of those players in that pool hall will look up and recognize the person walking in as they knew him in their own lives. Grady, and they are going to know that the addition of Grady to that place is a strong one and that some epic matches will be about to unfold.

And that the commentary is gonna get spicy.

God gave us all a wonderful gift when he made Grady Mathews. Rest easy Grady. We will remember you, not only as a great player, honorable competitor and generous teacher, but as a kind and sensitive man. Thank you for the friendship. May God ease your pain.

It deeply saddens me that grady will be leaving us soon, i have always regarded him 2nd in line to minnesota fats for all of the promotion ,instruction and passion for the sport. You are the prince of pool grady and always will be. Your in my prayers!

Hold on to what is good
even if it is a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe
even when it is a tree
that stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do
even when it is a long way from here.

Hold on to life
even when it is easier letting go.

Hold on to my hand
even when I have gone away from you.
