Please re-size your sig pictures and posted photos.

I'd like to point out another thing......forgetting about it just being annoying, think about people browsing on their phones.

Many people have lost the unlimited data plans. I'd rather not open this site on my phone expecting a few bytes of data, then scroll down and see I just loaded 10 pictures that are a megabyte or two apiece while I was reading.

Obviously we all want to see detailed pics for sale ads. But it's not hard to use thumbnails. If you use photobucket there's already code written for you. Copy the "IMG Thumb" code instead of the "IMG" code, then people can choose the files they want to see full size

Click image to see full size:

By default it opens a new window to the photobucket page of the pic.

With a little tweaking of the code that can be bypassed too

Please re-size your sig pictures and posted photos.

Oversized sig pictures and photos cause a browser to widen it's "view" to include the entire image. Which means the text now spans the expanded page width. It's a real hassle to have to scroll a page sideways to read the text, especially if it's a more than a single sentence.

Most of the time I give up on reading the thread because the constant scrolling makes it not worth the effort.

An image should be no more than 700 pixels wide. You can change the width of an image with lots of free software (here's a google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=free+image+editing+software&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Most of the image-hosting sites have a resizing program in their "Tools" section.

Two other message boards I use automatically resize any images posted. Another one just rejects any images over 700 pixels wide.

A little effort will make AZBilliards a better place for everyone.

Thanks!

Actually this forum does re-size your images IF you use their photo uploader. If you use an IMG code then you have to resize before you post your link.

1st: 700 pixels??? How old and small is the monitor you're using? I'm not trying to be an ass, but even the cpu my 5 year old uses has a monitor that displays images wider than that.

2nd: Everybody does know that you can disable signatures, right?

3rd: All the phone apps also have settings for if/when pics and sigs should open.

I think the problem is mostly for us older guys who like to enlarge the screen so we can see. :D

You're sig couldn't be big enough. :)

I use three 19" monitors (I'm a futures trader; lots of charts open) set at 1152 x 864 pixels. Pretty standard set-up. Actually sigs could be 800 pixels wide and still fit. My error.

I wasn't aware that we could disable sigs. Good to know, although I like to see what people put in their sigs. JAM's picture of Mark Twain is one of my all-time favorites.

I also didn't know that AZB had it's own uploader! That will be so much easier than using imageshack.com. Thanks!

I still think AZB should just automatically resize any photos over a pre-defined limit. Easier for everyone.
