hey earl if you read this, you're the man! awesome performance against peach as well, find your form again soon please! nothing would make me happier than to see the greatest pool player ever start winning some big tournies again. when you're 'on' nobody can touch you.

and fatboy hasn't said anything bad about you. a lot of other people have though lol!

Fatboy has never said anything negative, that I have read, about you. Quite the contrary... he recently said when listening to you practice, that your stroke sounded like no other he had ever heard.

P.S. Earl, you have more fans then you will never know!

I don't believe he thinks you said anything negative about him personally. He got upset with you saying "things will work out" or whatever you said when he got pissed.

Earl isn't around a computer these days, so doubtful he'll see it. He will hear about it, though.

I DO know Jay advanced a couple positions on Earl's shitlist. And since you two run together.....

Yes, he does I just got a call. He is pissed off at me, I dont like that-because I have one reputation and I dont want in blemished. Where he got his information I dont know but it isnt true. I like to see earl play great and thats that, I never mentioned anything other than that. If Earl is pissd off at me that his choice, honestly I dont care but I'm not gonna be accused for slander when I didnt do it.

Fatman, think about who is pissed off at you. Just think about it!

I have met people in my life, I would swear that they see music and hear colors when it comes to a rational thought process ! They're just don't feel normal unless they're in the role of a victim and they have to lash out at someone.

Most likely, he hadn't been pissed off at someone for at least say.........twenty minutes and your name happened to come up in the conversation.

Don't worry about it! Your rep as one of the good guys is well established in AZ land and the pool world and this guy couldn't dent it if he made it the only goal in his life.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the next time you see him, he'll come across as your best friend.

I hope your eyes and back are doing better.

Just my humble opinion and it ain't worth two cents.

Id rack for Earl all day, and all night, when he is at the table things happen. Fence the table off and dont let anyone near him and you will see a champion.. its when the crowd and even his opponets enter the picture that things take a bad turn.

Earl to me is the guy, somone can play like crap, but play like a champion against him, he brings the best game out of every player he encounters, and if they loose I feel that they feel resentment towards him.. If I could hold his cue Id challenge him, not because I hate him but because Id get to see the game that is feared across the world, even today....

Earl reading this?........Nah, he is who he is, but if he does, Id think someone is going to get a lesson on the table.. whitch is something I think would be fair, if you feel that strongly against him take his money! I would If I could, I assure of that.

Your right..

We went to the Cue Club following the finals loss on Sunday. He was playing rotation (full rack) running out from all angles. I'm talking impressive world beating shots. One after another....ball after ball. His shape and speed were unbelievable.

Henry (owner) and Jim Wyche walked over and sat down. They had their mouths open in awe, at some of the shots Earl was making. Hitting them at warp speed, dead center pocket. He was in dead stroke.

It's still there.....

Earl is kind of funny like that. He thinks that everybody is against him. He doesn't realize his antics can sometimes turn fans/audience against him. Or maybe he does, but he still gets mad when they do.

I went to watch Earl play BJ Ussery.. which was his first time gambling in forever. I drove 2 hours just to watch him play. When I stepped in the door and saw Earl practicing I just got a big smile on my face. I had never seen him play before and it was like a basketball fan seeing Jordan play for the first time up close and personal. He was playing BJ in BJ's poolroom and there some people in the crowd that were obviously pulling against him and even going as far as sharking. When Earl would make a great shot nobody except for me would clap or say good shot. But there were two occassions where Earl singled me out because he thought I was rooting against him for some reason. And he'd give me his death stare. I still have holes in me from those looks he gave me.

I'm still a fan of Earl... even if he said that I along with everyone else in the crowd should be in Baghdad because we'd make great insurgents! :D

You probably said something about him missing his other water wing on his non-bridge hand.

QUOTE]

I am one of the masses of people that sees Strickland as an egotistical ***hole, and I hope he does read this. There has never been a doubt of his ability just his instability in my mind. The first $50K Hong Kong Challange between him and Efren Reyes is forever burned into my mind. Any player that thinks of himself as a super-pro yet feels the need to walk up on his opponent player and ridicule or question his opponents called 9 ball shot aloud to the audience, not for clarification, but to ridicule and cajole the opponent before he shoots, deserves to walk away a "LOSER". That is what he was that final day in Hong Kong. Efren rightfully blew past him from the downside like the "professional" he is. That disrespect of his opponent cost him future respect from myself and I am sure many others who witnessed it live or via some form of media. I won't even get into all of the antics that have been recorded since. Plain and simple, Earl Strickland has a serious ego control problem that interferes with his perception of and respect for others which reflects poorly back on him. Too much ego or "self love" can be damaging in a multitude of relationships. Too little is damaging as well. As one super ego-centric person wrote "I told my girlfriend I was far too handsome to continue being seen dating her. She then kicked me in the groin, not once, but twice...." He later went on to say he now thanks her for that wake-up call that changed his life for the better.

Maybe it is time for Earl to concede he needs an attitude adjustment and to start paying more respect to other players in his profession and stop wearing his ego on his sleeve with the attitude that nobody can beat the Pearl on their ability alone. "On any given Sunday" is a good phrase that has credence in any competitive sport. I hope he seeks professional help before he totally loses it.

I can hear the lynch mob coming.

While the lynch mob is heating up the tar and gathering the feathers for your benefit, I will step in and state that there are MANY players who have an ego problem.

I think it is inevitable. In order to succeed in professional pool, one must think pretty strongly of their capabilities; thus, have a strong ego. I have never yet met a champion who doesn't have an ego. Yes, even the beloved Efren Reyes has an ego.

That said, some champions may be humble and not display their ego in full view, but I have seen others, besides Earl Strickland, exhibit their ego in public. I won't bother you with the references, names, and the when-and-wheres, but they all have that egomania. If they didn't, they would not be champions. I think this is true in every sport, if I may be so bold as to label pool as a "sport." :p

If Fatboy happened to say anything in the forums, perhaps Earl could use the search button?

I didn't see it and really wasn't looking for anything of the type. I usually skip over any of the "bashing" type threads regardless of who the bash target is. Though I would assume that if Fatboy did say anything in the forums, it would have been one of the longer threads.

Earls only issue is his weak mental game.He lets people get under his skin and its all downhill from there. If he would just shut up and play with a poker face tuning people out showing no response he would play alot better. His in match commentary just gives people fuel for the fire.If people get nothing from you sooner or later they get tired of it and just lose interest in breaking you down. Its very obvious he still has the skill just a weak mental game.Earl try taking a vow of silence and you should be better off.

my 2 cents

i can only say, i am/was always shocked watching his ability, and also by his personal demeanor. so unfortunate, for such a great player!

earl, you're just great, unbelievable, i love to watch you play and i hope you leave a legacy of only your greatness!

happy holidays!

all the best,
smokey

If I had earl's stroke and determination mixed with efren's mental strength.....I would probably never lose a tournament....
So since i don't have either i will just keep using steriods and coke to help me win the weekly 9-ball tourney at pop-a-tops billiards & bait and tackle shop...LOL!!!
