Joe, please keep up the effort on your end. Since I've been back from Derby I've had 7 different players (that I never met before) ask to be on the next roster for our area here in Charlotte. People are beginning to see the benefit of a 'cleaner game' and at the same time getting rewarded for the time put in at the table. We have to replace bad game/league structure in this sport for everyone to rekindle interest or have a good reason to invest quality time at the table.
As a introduction 'warm up' to this season, get positively motivated 'A type' players to spread the word by setting up a demo mini match (say race to 35-40) to introduce the AmRo local/ national benefits, game attributes and social benefits (player participation in most every game) of this format. *It could be used as a shooters meeting of sorts and/or get early signups for the season.
Loved the Derby event... I wished I'd of got more rest prior to the finals AmRo event.

Understand the sizzle sell but at a loss for what kind of sizzle to try and create. Right now target market is 64 clubs and 640 pool players. Only sizzle we have for them is if you would like to have a pro tour for your sport here's your chance to make it happen and to be part of it.
Hoping the fantasy billiards will start some general sizzle for everyone. All ears on possibly sizzle ideas.

Also for anyone in the Charlotte area interested in getting together to meet up with Joe (and the area players) before the season starts. This is a great time to get involved to start your own bracket or 'join in' in other ways. When Joe gives me his arrival time (here on AZ) you can just show up at the Pressbox in North Charlotte and we'll get you on board.
This is a great opportunity to make a positive contribution to pool AND your game. Get involved with American Rotation on the ground floor... make a difference by promoting healthy 'pool game structure'.

Some thoughts for you Joe.
Much better than 9 & 10 ball, which to me are break, safety, kicking competitions primarily.
I like the BIH after break, to take the break luck factor out of the game. In most old games such as billiards, 14.1 and snooker, the break has very little to do with the result. 8,9 & 10 ball, it often decides the match result.
Seems like the only penalty for the scratch was not getting the points for the balls potted. This seems a bit soft to me, as scratching often results from a less than ideal break, or taking the risk of smashing them up. Perhaps the player could be given the option of foot or head spot position after a break scratch.
I don't get the double points for last 5 balls as these are generally easier than the first 5 and second 5 balls. I'd just go 1 point per ball, races to 100.
Do you know the B&R% for the top players? If it's getting over 40% then I think the game is on the easy side. I'm not a fan of tightening pockets, because it discourages beginners. Another type of option is requiring the CB to hit an end rail at least once every 5 pots, or requiring a 2 rail shot one in 3 or 5 shots. They did this type of thing in English Billiards to create challenge points during a break, when the players had become too good for the old rules.
Players are always going to try to make the game as simple as possible and when they get really good at that, it can be a bit boring to watch sequences of relatively easy pots.
Just some thoughts. The game is a huge improvement imho and an incredible challenge for the aspiring player.

It provides a kind of traditional reward for finishing up the table, rather than the 2 points reward now. Historically, it's big breaks that attract many fans to sports and when a player gets on a potential big break, they'll forgo some safety options, making for some highlights. Would sure love to see a 50 ball run in this game!

Joe, I don't know either. That is a million dollar question without an answer. I was merely rephrasing Bill's comments.
Colin, I accept the game as it is without critique.
As would I Paul. It's more than a tough enough to challenge me.
There are times when games may need to adapt. I was just putting out some ideas that might come up over time.
I'd be delighted if my local 8-ball league played this instead, even on tight 7 foot English Pool tables, races to 30 instead of best of 3 frames.

I appreciate you taking the time. Scratch otb penalty or lack thereof does raise some eyebrows. In 8 9 or 10b its usually a near death penalty. Here we're trying to make the punishment suit the crime. Most scratches otb or just bad kisses but and this wouldn't be anytime this year we are considering an additional penalty of letting opponent take any one ball off the table which they would receive points for. Had considered an automatic point deduction for scratch otb but that kind of messes with the perfect 20 points per rack scoring system.

On a different note. Our goal is take take one step at a time. Step 1, unite 64 clubs and 640 players to form a national qualifying tour that also serves as an industry product. Step 2 would be to sell the sizzle. So we need a lil more help from the players themselves before we can sell the sizzle. Can't sell sizzle from a steak if you don't have a steak.

Man that Efrin gets around doesn't he? That video shows him there Jan 13 2015,... hes was in DCC (Indiana) on the following Friday 1/20 playing banks with us... not quite as much fan fair but still. Unbelievable this man.
