PM me your UltraSkin Layered Cue Tip Story

Tom ........... and anyone else

I put on a soft for a guy that has always used Le Pro. He constantly grinds on his tips because that is his experience with Le Pro. They always compress down and get glazed over. He uses one of those horrible little block scuffer/shapers. His tips just disappear over the course of a week or 2.

I have a med on my stick and I have never scuffed it. Even after a miscue, I just re chalk it and move on. Personally, I don't think they need it.

My question is ........... does anyone find the real need to scuff these tips?

thanks

Kim

Scuffing not needed yet. Been playing with it about a month and a half. Holding up well!

Definately do not use a tip pick on a layered tip. It will break down the glue layers in between and cause the tip to delaminate. Once it is properly shaped, I would say at the most use something like the Kamui Gator Grip on the tip, nothing else. So far, these tips are amazing quality and amazing price. Thanks once again Tom.

Headmuses.

Back in the day, when I used to play off the rack for personal reasons:grin:, I always carried a credit card sized piece of 50 grit sand paper (cut from a belt sander belt because of the fabric back) in my wallet. It did wonders for those hard house cue tips . . .

Just to be the devil's advocate........................

I wonder if anyone will put on an Ultraskin and say it's a Kamui and charge $55.

just a nasty thought..

I doubt that anyone in the position to charge $55 for a tip replacement would risk his rep to save a few bucks on a tip.
If some shrewd cue flipper gets ahold of some Ultraskins, puts one on a cue and sells the cue claiming it's a Kamui, he needs to worry about neutron activation analysis and DNA testing.
Tip fraud is a serious offense, and to my knowledge nobody has ever pulled it off.

This thought has crossed my mind many times. I would hope a persons reputation would not be worth the gamble. If they want to call it an UltraSkinLayered and charge that much, that is there choice. If they want to call it their own, thats their choice.

Some people still laugh at the name UltraSkinLayered. The thing I was MOST sure of when naming them the name would not start with a K or an M.

Ordered the wrong Ultra Skins?

i just tried some of these tips and they are fantastic! equal to more expensive tips, which everyone says they are, but few really are IME. and the price is just AWESOME!

One thing I wish is that the hardness would be printed on the tip. I can never remember which color is which, so I always have to check the chart just to be sure I'm putting on the right one.

I'd also like to see a little harder tip than the current hard. Not to replace it, as the current hard is great in its own way. But as another option for people that want something harder.

Me too, about the harder hard.
I still haven't tried pressing one.
In my opinion pressing a layered tip kinda defeats the purpose

I talked to one of the Little Daddy Yum Yums from the tree, seems Their Union has oky dokyed printing the hardness.

I have a face to face later in the week with the Head Elf also known as "The Big Guy" about UltraSkinLayeredHarder. I can make no promises, unless you want a cookie, but will see whats I can do.

Are the the double fudge or chocolate chip.
I have installed over 100 of these cookies in the past 3 months.

thanks for the reply tom, and good luck with your venture!

Tom,

I installed one of your medium tips on one of my cues and just received feedback from the buyer - it was a hit! The guy had two offers that night for the cue and my only concern is whether they liked my cue or your tips...! Every new build will be fitted with one of your tips.

Thanks for everything,
Jason

why call it another name? I believe UltraSkin could get enough respect in time to be priced the same and still being asked for. Okay, let it be slightly cheaper for the customer so they get great tip for less ;)
