Question about Diamond pocket cut. What are the choices? Regular and tournament? How much is the difference and is it easy to shim up from the regular cut to tournament in the future?

Thanks

There's a 1/4" difference, if you go with the Pro Cut pockets, you won't have to try and change to them at a later date;)

The Pro Cut pockets are tough and fair. I don't play well but I like these pockets! No gifts.

Aaron at Diamond figures it's easier to go up to Pro tight pockets with some pocket shim or facing, than trying to go back down to the League pockets if I don't like the Pro cut. I think that's what he said, I was just to excited to memorise everything he said and he answered my questions on the phone not via e-mail.

I haven't played pool in several years so I'm getting the League cut pockets.

As a side question how often do you need to change your cloth? What are the factors to look at? I imagine it'll be a couple of years before I'll need new cloth....Now that I'm thinking about it, YEARS...Maybe it would be best to go with the Pro cut....Shoot I already ordered, oh well I guess I'm not planning on turning pro anyway.

Too many decisions...

Well Aaron at Diamond is changing my order to Pro Cut. It wasn't to late to change as they are building the table now.

Thanks for the imput...I'll make sure to take notes on who said the Pro Cut was best to go with...and cursing you each in turn when I can't make any balls.

When you get the table All cloths are slippery mixed with new balls or freshly waxed\ clean balls the pockets well play loose. Once the balls get a little dirty and the cloth relaxes and gets some wear on it then the pockets tighten up and you will love it.

I just did a table were the corner's are cut and finished size is 3.750" @ the opening, My friend whined for 3 days on how loose it was then bam it got tight bank shots that normaly went wouldnt go unless hit hit dead perfect and cut shots you have to hit center pocket or a little inside of center. I think It's the best table in Sacramento better then Hardtimes.

The Diamond (optional) pro cut (corner) pockets should be 4.5"... according to a Diamond video that I recently watched featuring Greg... and the standard Diamond corner pockets should be 4.75"... a quarter inch greater than the pro cuts as mentioned by Glen above.

That should be good...Just so you know Aaron at Diamond called the standard cut the "League Cut" pocket
