poker online

I can't help but to see the dark humor re. this thread....Since this is a pool forum site - not a poker forum site...and unfortunately the online and casino 'poker tidal wave' took away a HUGE AMOUNT of the gambling action in pool halls all around the country....this thread is kinda like if a smoker logged on to an anti-smoking site and asked everybody if they could tell him where was a good place to buy cigarettes........^_^

.......sheesh

I thought that this thread had to do with the online poker and then the Bill that passed outlawing funding for the online poker, which put the monkeywrench in deal with Stanley Ho and the impending IPO to be offered with Ho and KT, thus putting a halt to payments and future tournaments and creating the end of the I.P.T. as we know.
Are you telling me now that this thread is NOT about that OR pool ?

( this thread should be moved to the NPR section at once. Someone contact the authorities )

Mine was from an Atlanta bank, and it took over two weeks. I don't like the fact that they keep moving around. This is not a good sign. If they shut down here, we may or may not get paid.

in businesses similar to mine(i'm legal and clean) alot of people/companys have banking issues and what happens is when they lose a bank they move to the next bank, typically small agressive banks that are not worried about their reputations, they usually are privatly held banks not pubically traded, when the Fed Reserve and OCC start questioning them they drop the customer/client.

it isnt unusal for companys to have 5 or 6 banks at once so if one goes down its a seemless apperance for the retail customer/end user/poker player. In 11 years I have had 2 banks drop me. one was because they were aquired and we didnt fit the portifoilo the other was recent they got in trouble for internet gambling and they dropped all their high risk accounts-I was with them for 8 years, not my local bank but a bank I used for processing transactions, had I known they were processing gambling I would have left them for fear of an assett seizure.

its BS about making internet poker illegal, but it will help pool. I just dont like laws that are phony things put in place to protect or serve a select group of people not for the good of society that they claim to be, thats hyprocracy.

Johnny, there really are no good sites now for American players. It is a major hassle to get money in and take it out. I do play still on Poker Stars (the best tournaments) and Ultimate Bet because I still have money in accounts there. But if I go broke, I will not be making any more deposits.

I cashed out some money a while back ($1,000) and it took almost three weeks to get the check, when it used to be instantaneous, direct into my checking account.

Do NOT put any serious money into a poker site now. I keep around $1,000 max. You just don't know what the future will bring. People who had money in Neteller have basically lost it. It has been tied up since January, with no clear indication of when you will get it back. People I know have thousands in there.

The mighty Party Poker burned me for over $2,500. I have yet to get my money back from them, after they shut down in the USA. And the prospects don't look too good.

Have you tried alternative methods to cash out? I have not done online poker, but from what others have told me there are different options. For example, debit cards and prepaid credit cards and phone cards. Just thinking, since it burns me that so many got shafted. You can get software that allows you to use an IP address from anywhere. I heard you moved to Canada. :) .....or was it ......

I wonder if Mr. Tadd remembers this final table.

Jay, you can still use Epassporte for Pokerstars, FullTilt, Ultimate Bet, and Absolute. I play on all of these and have never had any trouble getting paid after the bill went into effect last year. It works the same as netteller and firepay did. I have my checking account linked and the deposit is instant and withdrawals typically take 3-4 days. Any withdrawal over $10,000 I get a courier check though so the eft deposit wont raise a red flag to the IRS.

Thank you all for all the info and links. Now I can go and see what this poker has that...that POOL doesn't.:D

This is not a pool related thread. What you should do is phrase your question this way:

What is the best site to play poker while cleaning your break cue?

Thank you, I'm here 'til Thursday.

I was about to sign up for Epassporte but was told that in the second or third screen of the setup process, they asked for your SS#. That kind of bothered me, so I never followed through.

Do you recall if they asked you?

Glad you cleared that up.

But it wasn't from PokerStars, it was from Party Party poker a WHILE ago.

Do you play at Full Tilt at all?

I don't blame you. I just looked at their site and nowhere did I find any info as to their physical location. I suppose many people know where they are but I find it odd just the same.

Do NOT give out your SS# online ANYWHERE!!! It is far too easy for hackers to get it, and then your identity is doomed. Even if the site asking for it (epassporte) is legit, the thieves know how to hack in.

It's getting to the point where you may not even be able to use a credit card online for fear of hackers getting the number.
