All of the talk betwen Jack and John got me wondering. If you had the money who would you order your case from? If I forgot anyone I'm sorry. Please post your opinion in the thread.

I intend to order a case from John Barton. I like the idea of being able to get all the features I want in a case, have it made from the materials of my choosing and still not have to spend a fortune.

I already have a John Barton on order. Should be getting it anytime. I will post it when I receive. Since I already have one on its way I voted OnQ.

I'd buy a barton case also. Joe Porper had his cases copied and had to reduce his prices to be competitive.

I voted for On Q because I really really like the inlay work Garth is doing. My second choice would be Murnak because he, like me, seems to like doing whatever makes him and the customer happy - which means making any style of case.

Murnak would be my second choice.

I've never been able to understand why so many folks like Justis cases. The two rows of rivets are not cool at all, in my estimation, and ruin the looks of the case. I thoroughly dislike rows of rivets. There's gotta be a better, less obtrusive, way of attaching the pieces together. I like the heavy tooling leather.

My other problem with the Justis cases is the pockets. The Justis pockets are very small and are certainly not ergonomic. It's virtually impossible to find stuff that you have in there without taking everything out, you can't see in the pocket at all and the zipper on the side prohibits getting your hand in there. Terrible design. It looks slim & trim but if you are carrying any stuff (like a towel/rag, powder, jump handle, glasses) you'd better have another bag of some sort with you.

I don't care for the On Q use of nails around the top and bottom. I think the nails look cheap and I wonder if they would come loose? Like the rivets I think there has to be a better way. Agree w/John that the inlay work looks great. I do LIKE inlays to match a special cue!

I can't find anything wrong with Murnak's and Whitten's are very classy!

I like JB's the best for my new case because the design window is completely open. I can have my case made without nails or rivets (:) ) and have it made with the ergonomics and spiffy looks that I have spent a lot of time thinking about and which pleases my eye and practical needs. Truly a custom case from top to bottom, inside and out. I also like that after I emailed John about my new case he got back to me and although he did not answer real fast his answer showed that he had put some time and mental energy into thinking about my design ideas. He didn't get back quickly because he was letting the mental image of what I wanted get developed in his head and then was spending time developing his ideas of possible improvement over what I suggested. He showed he was truly interested in helping me get the case I really want. Now I'm developing in my mind my original ideas with his suggestions taken into consideration and some new ideas that have come about because of the ideas he had. This is truly a collaborative effort that will get me the case with all the features I've wanted and have it be built by a guy with the knowledge and experience to avoid the pitfalls that some of my amatuer ideas would have caused me to fall into. Working with a pro is fun and this is a cool project.

Barton. Great quality at an affordable price. Nothing against any of the other makers, I just think John is a few steps ahead in the game.

None of the above. These used to be made I believe in California. it's what Steve Mizerak carried for a long time, when I asked him about it he sent me one. I love it but don't know where to get one today. I found this website but that was about all I could find.

I have one of those cases. I currently have taken the soft liner out of it and have put in 2 butt and 3 shaft hard case tubes. Works great.

They are out of business and I believe that the founder George Aranak (sp?) is no longer around... or so I was told.

Instroke/John Barton

I have looked at many cue cases including the old flowers cases and the BARTON design is truely the best thought out and executed case. Why?

1st his tubes are staggard to allow easy access to your shafts.
2nd the shafts extend higher than the tube to easily remove.
3rd the big butt tubes are on the outside so shafts inside are protected.
4th the tubes are padded and felt lined for maximum protection.
5th the lining of the tubes is moisture resistant.
6th rivet design is 10 times stronger the stitching.
7th designed with zipper and snaps for easier access on pouches
8th diamond latch for increased strength at latch
9th side strap for better comfort on shoulder than on back
10th wears well over the years.
11th stands behind product and replaced numerous latches till EVERYONE WAS HAPPY!!!

With all these good things it made my decision pretty easy.

All this bad press for a guy that defends Grady Matthews, defends Danny Harriman and to date has not imported knock offs of established case makers is really unfair!!!! In all of his post he is for the underdog and the morally correct positions and often that puts him in the line of fire with some of these neo-con-right-wing-republicans on the board. He is not a hawk and is a tree hugging, hippie love child that "wants to buy the world a coke and sing in perfect harmony" and I for one see nothing wrong with that!!!!

Oh and to all the nay sawers! Whats wrong with a Chinese person working to earn a living like everyone else? They need work where ever they can get it!!!! You may have the luxury of buying american and shelling out 5 times as much. But when your in business, you have to seek the lowest cost structure to keep your prices competitive! If that means cheap foreign labor. So, be it! Almost every fortune 500 company exploits foreign labor markets and John would be stupid to not do the same. Other wise his prices could not be competitive and he won't eat if you get my drift!!!

Sincerely

Bob has a Whitten, and I love the classy look of it.

John Barton makes and maintains his beautiful cases as well. I think that John has better service then the others and would buy his case before Whitten, but voted for Whitten soly because of the "look" of it.

That's the exact same reason that I voted for the Hooter's wings and the Long Island Iced Tea....
