Perfect doesn't necessarily sell. :D
Color and authenticity do.
Consider the wisdom of Yogi Berra.

A Kansas farm girl came to Canada, ended up as owner and editor of the Bridge River-Lillooet News. She had a unique writing style, not to mention opinions, "that's fur damshur".

People complained that she ignored punctuation, so she put a box on the front page with lots of punctuation marks and told readers to put them wherever they thought they were needed.

She was known as Ma Murray, became a national character, and her paper had a subscription list far beyond the local area it served.

thanks Chris and to everyone for the vote of support. also thanks for all the advice I will take it to heart, I do have a long way to go, i'm just going to keep honing my skills, thats the best i can do, again thanks for all the input.

I'd like to write a pool book for fun and perhaps do something to make $$$ and well. The pool book would be first.

If I do this i'll sell the pool book for what ever the printing costs are, i dont need the $$. It would be fun to share some of the things i seen over the years and what's to come in pool for me and others I know. I dont have the experience of Cotton, or Jay because I started in 85 and took almost 10 years away from the pool scene, but I've still met lots of great people and have lots of ideas in mind for a book. And my perspective of pool.

There are pool story books of the past which are great, then the "how to play" books, good Lord I hate to mention it but a aiming system is a topic i will avoid as its well documented here. My pool book might be a combination of topics. Different from all other pool books. The books by great players on how to play better are what they have seen and normal players dont see things like they do-so i'd have a different perspective. For what ever reason as a player i'm starting to improve late in life, which is not to common. when I was young pool was much more difficult for me. So I believe I could write a very interesting book, and it will be what ever printing costs me. Its a contribution i'd like to make to pool. and if it sucks well it will be less than $5, so it cant be too bad. Or I could charge more and take 100% of the $$$ and post it up for a event. that would be fun. Put some $$$ in players pockets. Just a thought.

Thanks again to everyone, gotta roll, busy day.

best

Here are some ideas.

- Nobody has written a book about Keith McCready's life. That could be a really amazing book.

- A book about your life - not so much about pool as about your business adventures, ups and downs, the close calls, the crashes and burns and the glorious moments - the wild Las Vegas scene, behind the scenes with the insider truth as much as possible.

A book about me and my business life would be BORING. I just made a living and raised a family, but you got richer than hell and lived large. I would definitely be interested in a book like that.

If I can do it, you can do it.

I saved all of the material, I originally wrote.

Then I got an editor. It was costly but I never would have published, I self-published, my original writings. The editing was expensive but worth it. You pay by the word, so be concise.

I'm not going to tell you what I think you should do....BUT....If the book comes out I would definitely buy one and read it...

Eric, your writing here has gotten progressively better over the last few years. It is far easier, and more enjoyable, to read your posts, and that is a good thing.

I'm quite sure that you have a book in you. Go ahead and write it. As others have said, you can a professional fix anything grammatically lacking. (If that sentence is grammatically correct, I'll be amazed, heh heh.) The content, and the feeling behind it is what is important.

BTW, don't worry about wearing out a tape recorder. Nowadays you can get a pocket digital recorder for less than $100 that will record for hundreds and hundreds of hours, and you can even download those recordings onto your computer for storage and review. (Maybe even a text to speech transcribing program, too.) Smaller than a cell phone, you can record your thoughts anywhere you go. Hell, there's probably a dictation app available for your phone, too.

It's good to see you posting here again.

Eric,

It seems to me that your writing has improved from when you started. You will be fine if you remember this simple rule of grammer....

What comes at the end of a sentence.......

You make an appeal.

LOL

Eric,

Write the book. If you're really on the fence because of your perceived lack of correct grammar, use a really, really good word processing program. A co-author is another . Bet both of us know someone on the East Coast and a regular poster at AZ who would fit the bill perfectly! Wow, two of the best pool authorities working on a book about the game. Can't wait!

Well Eric,

at least it would have to be *authentic*- it would have to be a book *written by Eric*- just then it would satisfy you also (what is absolutley necessary in my opinion).
I m sure you re writing abilities would be high enough- and you would get anyway help from somewhere,
