  • going to work

    Votes: 12 7.7%
  • vienna sausages

There have been many polls on AZ since I came here in 2006. Mostly about what games are most popular. 8 ball has almost always been at the bottom. It is in my estimation.
Among serious/professional players I've met over the years, and they are many, 8 ball is their least favorite game. Sigel lied.

8 Ball is a better game than 9 Ball.

Properly played 8 Ball has more strategy, imagination, creativity and nuance than 9 or 10 Ball. Of the major games it falls just below Straight Pool and One Pocket but above 9 and 10 Ball in these regards.

I guess I prefer pattern games.

+1. As a spectator this is just as true. Watching rotation games is much more boring than 8 ball, straight pool, and one pocket where you have to plan and have options. I also think there is less luck involved than rotation games and the guy with the bigger break is rewarded which I am a fan of.

I have to admit, it's nice to see vienna sausages make such a strong showing in the early tally: just over 17% as of the writing of this post.

I went on a catfishing trip at lake marion in the Sovereign Christian Coast (that's South Carolina to those who don't know) a couple of years ago. My rather corpulent guide killed a couple cans of those babies and then proceeded to turn up the can and drink the coagulated juice that remained! I was impressed! My wife about puked though.

Also, I like the fact that one of its' ingredients is "Chicken Mechanically Separated". If this ingredient were prepared by hand, I'd never trust it!

Go vieeenniees (as they sometimes refer to them around these parts)!!!

Since I no longer go to work, I'd agree with this and it was my contribution to the poll.

I share the same views. Although i love watching the very best run racks upon racks of 9 and 10 ball, there just isn't much strategy involved in it.

Yeah baby!!! This is what I'm talking about:

I heard a fella named Roman Craig one time say that Vienna Sausages were made from "lips and assholes" (well, he was actually talking about hot dogs, but what the heck).

8 ball is a good game.It is the game that most people cant relate to.
Its the game more associated with beer then any other.

A phrase that i havnt heard to many times....would like to play....yow sure...how about a race to 5 8ball ..ok!

The only game besides 3 ball a banger has a chance at.;)

Have you ever seen anyone play 8 ball for big bucks? Eight ball is a bit harder to play than nine ball. The choices were not too good to vote! Nine ball and One pocket all the way!
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

I love Eight Ball... I learned pool by playing Eight Ball. Nine Ball seems easy to me after playing Eight Ball.. But I am no pro.. so when I say easy, I just mean.. I feel like Eight Ball requires a bit more strategy.. plus I like that you gotta call your pocket.. can't slop that crap in.. and you definitely can't make the Eight before it is time.. while you can combo the Nine at any time.. lol

I feel like pro's play Nine Ball because it is a quicker game, where in Eight Ball can turn into a long safety battle sometimes.. but let me say.. there is nothing sweeter than breaking out a few messed up balls and running the rack down. It is sure a Wonderful Feeling.

P.S. I need to learn the other games.. 14.1 and one pocket.. how do I go about practicing for those?

If you go through the trouble of racking them in that shape you might as well play 1 pocket.

I love playing 8ball I always find a good challenge trying to run out from the break. I'll break and run out more often in nine all then in 8 ball when I'm practicing for some reason

8 ball is the game that I play the least. However, I really enjoy it on the bar box. The game requires pinpoint cue ball position and creative thinking, as many have previously mentioned.

I think its important to play all games in order to be a well rounded player.

In any event, though I play 99.9% of games on a 9 footer, bar box 8 ball holds a special place in the ole heart...

I totally agree. But .... what the hell is vienna sausage? I'm a ginzo from the east coast, I might have to vote differently if it was a hot Italian sausage.

8 ball is a great game. Add some fun. Turn it into 1-15 and last pocket out.

I played 8 ball (with some 9ball here and there) until I found AZB, now I have graduated to real games like 14.1 and 1pocket. Still play 8ball with friends.... and 9 and 10ball to let the stroke out.

There are some things in life that you really don't want to know.

This would fall into that category.
