I would choose ______________ because I have heard good things about their teaching techniques from feedback from other players.

I voted Buddy Hall. Greatest cue ball control ever!

Yeah, I voted for him too.

Of course I would have voted for Efren if he'd been among the options.

I wouldn't even need the lesson. I'd just ask him for a hug and a famous smile, cuz he's a lovely friendly teddy bear. :)

I'm not sure who the best teacher is in this group. I know a lot of great players that are NOT very good teachers. I would want a lesson with the best TEACHER in this group. Willie would be my guess.

Best,

Justin

It was tough between buddy and mosconi but I had to go with mosconi. Buddy's cue ball is awesome but how nice must mosconi's be to do his run of 526? Not to mention his shotmaking (they couldn't have all been hangers). Mosconi also knows what it's like to be at the top of the food chain and stay focused for really long stretches.

I have worked with 4 of the listed. Too bad I missed out on the Miz. I would have learned something for sure.

Voted for SVB. I had a lesson with Mike Sigel and that has proven invaluable.

I'd want a lesson to work on fundamentals. For that I'd choose Buddy Hall or Earl Strickland. I think they both take into account a person's physical limitations since they have experienced it themselves.

I think Mosconi's style and ideas about fundamentals are too "old school" to apply today: stand-up pretty straight, use a closed bridge with a tight curl around the shaft, etc.

The most amazing thing about taking a lesson with either Miz or Mosconi is that they are dead.
If we are being realistic about who is available, I would like to try Earl. I have heard good things about his lessons.
I have been in some group sessions with Sigel. He has a lot to pass on, but he didn't really do a lesson. He just talked the whole time. Three hours. He is interesting, but three hours. He demonstrated a lot , but three hours. Everyone just stood there with their cues in their hands.
If I seriously wanted a lesson I would go with a real instructor. Scott Lee, Randyg, Jerry Breiseth to name a few.

I said Danny. He seems like such a personable guy and I'm sure he would take the time to explain things well. I wanted to say SVB to learn that sweet smooth stroke, but I'm not sure he's able to teach something that seems too natural.

My choice is Buddy, with SVB a close second and not so much for playing lessons, but more for "on the road" lessons. Basically, how to set up games, negotiations, money management etc.

>I have had a 14.1 lesson with Sigel, and being a lefty it was GREAT to learn from him.

I voted for svb he is my favorite player and i would like to get an ideal of how he thinks. I want him to teach me 9 ball strategy against an A player. I get a little star struck watching my opponent run out. And if i fire back at my opponent i cant believe it. He beats them all an i got to believe at some point he has to say to him self holy cow i just beat so an so. How do you get over your self as a run out player. Svb apparently knows this. I think i need a pool counselor. Lol

Living or dead?

Dead - Elvis Presley. He had a pretty cool table. That would be a tough one. Mosconi or Minnesota Fats.
Probably learn more from Willie but you would be thoroughly entertained by Fats.

Living would also be a tough decision.
Earl would be my number one choice then followed by Effren.
I'd love to learn how to bank like a pro so John Brumback would be a very close third.

If

I chose Buddy Hall because he has helped my game just by some statements he has made in the past.Example " don't play shape if you have shape" he was referring to how sometimes you need only to stay put or move the the cue ball a nudge, but some players will load up with juice and go 3 rails . The one person who would have been good in this poll and would have been my no.1 choice would have been Allison Fisher.I have heard from numerous people she excels at giving pool instructions.

I voted for Buddy Hall because he seems nice and looks like he knows how to pass on information.

Tough choice! I voted Sigel. Mosconi doesn't have the last 40 or so years of knowledge, and from what I've heard, he didn't have much charisma to enhance the experience. Not sure he had all around game knowledge (ie. one pocket). Sigel has modern knowledge, charisma and stern focus (albeit a little conceited) that I believe I'd benefit a lot from. Buddy would surely be lower key, and perhaps more empathetic to my short comings. That's a toin coss for me on these two.

Good poll!
