Fast forward to 2:28:30 of this video. Playing call shot 10 ball, hill/hill, guy lines up a combo and makes it, opponent raises a stink that he didn't call it.

If you watch the rest of the match it doesn't appear either player was calling their shots unless it was an unusual shot.

To me the shot was pretty clear but the rules do state you should call combinations. While I wouldn't have had a problem with it I would have definitely called it if it were me shooting. I suppose some would call it sharking but really, if the rules support you and a ref could back you up it's tough to call it an outright bold-faced move. I guess I'd vote for a combination of chicken sh!t / legitimate beef.

BTW, neither guy looked like Stan or Rafael.

If you had just said who the two players were and asked the forum to guess who pulls this move, the vast majority who would have picked Rafael would have been right.

Funny how classless sh*t like this seems to come from the same people over and over.

It wasn't Rafael.

Rich "The Hat" vs. Rafael

Technically Raf was in the right and called Rich on a non-called combo. Really showing no class with this call but ive heard that a lot of pros with pull this kinda shit. Heaven forbid you didnt it to them though right?? Probably post about it on here

Personally I would let the guy get away with it knowing that he was intending on making the shot he made.

Lesson learned the hard way I guess. I was taught by my instructor that if its a combo or a bank no matter how obvious... CALL IT!!!!! Mark your pocket for 8 ball... stay in your chair and be quite while waiting for yoru turn. POST THAT CASH!!!

I have never made any of these MINOR mistakes that most people make..

On this situation?? Sorry Raf but your a slime ball for being so petty :shakehead:

I have watched Rich G play a few times and not many guys have impressed me more then him. I would have to see if Mark was watching Rich in the moments right before the combo. As far as I am concerned Rich made it clear with the shape he shot and the way he measured and lined up the shot right before he shot the combo. I would have not thrown the flag out on Rich..... to me the combo was obvious.

I believe that Rich's opponent was Marc Vidal.
And I'm giving him zero credit here.
When Rich lined up the combo with his cue....
..it was as good as calling it.

I voted sharking and chicken shit

Chicken-shit move

I watched the match live at rail2rail site...it was BS sharking move all the way.
Rich was obviously going for the combo, as the ref ruled. But Rich had to wait 5 minutes, and seemed to lose his rhythm and flow (an important part of his game).

And this was hill-hill for the point! And Vidal goes on to win the tourney.
Rich Geiler has too much class to stoop to this level (as do 90% of top players) and accepted the onus for not running out the rack.

Marc Vidal...Marc Vidal... I wil remember that name

Clown ass move to cry about not calling it...like others have said, it was obvious and he lined up the shot before hand with his cue.

Ridiculous...as bad as idiots in bars playing for drinks saying you have to call an object ball grazing a rail on its way into a pocket.

People who try and win by rules violations suck...

that's a load of crap by Mark. I have always enjoyed hanging around Rich from the years I lived in Seattle, he's always been a class guy. he has one of the sweetest strokes I've ever seen.

It was obvious as hell what he was doing and if the rules were to call anything that wasn't obvious, then he followed those rules. He lined up the combo. it was a total shark move and he got away with it.

Got I hate people like that! They just sit there waiting for some kind of BS thing to come up with.

How lame can a person be.

And that is why before I start a bar box game, I say to my opponent, "call the pocket and I don't care how the ball gets there, as long as it goes in, its fair".

Never had anyone complain about those rules. Otherwise, I generally won't entertain idiots enuff to play with them the other way.

i too saw it live on rail2rail, it was clear, watching rich line up the combo, that it was the "called" shot. marc shot out of his sit and challenged and that was the best sharking i have ever seen on live matches, beating out "the pearl". the class act was rich walking away and not getting involved with the referee or marc. personally i would have told marc to sit down and STFU.

I will as well. I don't know much about Vidal, but based on this, I'd not want to go into a battle alongside someone that exhibits this character.

Chump move.

I've never seen anybody jump up as much on his shot and still play at as high a level as Rich. Most people who jump up like that can't get above C level but he plays pretty decent.

I don't know either player and therefore I didn't care who won the match but watching it on the live stream I thought it was questionable move my Marc. I started the poll to see what others thought.

Not saying this is why Marc pulled the rule move but if you watch a few minutes before that shot Rich calls no rail on Marc. It appears that Marc hit plenty of rail but conceded ball in hand since no one was there to say.

The combo was on the run that started with Ball in hand.

Many people act out on how they see others acting to them. Reality or not. Not the way to do things. Treat people the way you like to be treated, regardless of how other people treat you. Not easy, but rewarding.

This would have been some nice context prior to someone posting the poll. Not that 2 wrongs make a right, but it helps to understand what led up to that.

The shot on the 3 ball? You thought that caught a rail?
