Pool Ball Collecting.

Chances are slim, I'd say. As no EU or US companies replied to me, I am currently in negotiations with a Chinese company to make a custom Poker Pool set for myself. Buying a nice one used, seems to be impossible to me, and I gave up after over 1 year of searching 🙃
Wow, I can't believe there are so many people chasing CardBall balls! I played it in Australia in 1993 and fell in love with the game and have been obsessed with it since. So much so I went to great lengths to find the original owner without success. Last year I finally decided to chase it and redevelop the game commercially. Its been quite the project both from a difficulty level and financial investment. We are aiming for a commercial launch by November 2026 with a US distributor nailed down and still looking for distribution for all other areas but talks are ongoing. I have had many iterations of ball designs and have finally managed to find a supplier who can make high grade phenolic resin balls, I even cold called to the Aramith factory here in Belgium but they were less than helpful. The mould investment frankly is quite a chunk of money. However I did get 4 sets of balls that I am no longer using, and seeing as you are in Austria I'd be happy to send one set onto you if you cover the postage. I don't need all four anymore. Let me know if thats of interest.

Hello, Amadainmhor.

Firstly, sincere thanks for joining in on the thread.

I truly admire your endeavours thus far regards the Cardball venture. I know from experience how difficult it is to make any pool ball design a reality so respectfully tip my hat to you.

If you skip back a few pages you will see that I (and others) have followed a similar path in recent years, so would also be interested to chat further if convenient.

My personal email address is…

Best wishes.

I've been loving reading back over the threads! 10yrs in the making and a mine of information! I've sent you a mail just now

Your original message has just landed, All the cyberspace elves must be busy watching the World Cup! 😀

Many thanks, Colm. I am just leaving the house for the evening, sir, but will reply tomorrow. 🙏

I officially have a "collection" with my table set to be installed on Wed morning.
Nothing interesting, just the official sets I like.
Disappointed that it seems 6Reds has gone out of business? Would like to eventually add good casino, poker, and pool snooker sets eventually. Would appreciate recommendations there.

My modest addition to my favorite thread here. There are many truly astounding and beautiful sets shared here.

Oh, I did not notice that. They were not long in business as well, I think. Maybe 1-2 years?

To be honest, their Snooker Pool set was a bit of a niche product to begin with, and considering that, the price was quite hefty. Because one has always the choice of getting just normal Snooker balls for that for less… 🙃

Hello, Sudocrushms.

Thank you so much for sharing images of your collection, sir. We all started off with the traditional sets… before you know it you’ll be scouring obscure corners of the internet eight hours every day like the rest of us. It only takes one lucky find and you’re hooked.

Regards recommendations on your wish list, dear chap…

Casino: you can’t really go wrong with modern Aramiths, but for something a little more interesting and of comparable quality I would suggest 1970s Hyatts or Raschigs.

Poker: The 1970s striped sets from Aramith are right up there, plus either variation of the 1980s Cardball sets, of course. All of them rare, but they do crop up occasionally. Or the modern set from the Billiard Ball Museum, perhaps!

Best wishes,

RC.

Adding a recommendation for the Centennial TV Tour Edition, but full disclosure, I have them listed on eBay.

I appreciate the plug. Those are good looking sets, but I've had a personal vendetta against Brunswick since college. Nothing against people that like them, but all of my experiences (especially with their tables) are bad.

Really appreciate it RC. I'd love to get to the museum sometime, you have so many amazing sets.
Feel like a little kid waiting for xmas with the table coming. Already had the Tournament Black set and went for both the TV Cup (I really don't like the Blacks for 8b...) and the Arcos.
Then decided I needed a ball cleaner and if course it needs to match the table, right? Diamond build quality is just something else.
