Pool Ball Collecting.

I'm glad everyone is enjoying those Dynasphere Tungstens and that I didn't steer you wrong.

But back to the gumballs and cleaning. I was wondering if anyone has noticed dark speckles on the yellow-green ball? I suspect this is some mold/mildew, as the box I received was moderately covered in mold/mildew. I tried the Aramith cleaner and even a little of the restorer but haven't had any luck removing these speckles. I'm thinking about a soak in vinegar, but I'm worried that it could damage the ball. Any thoughts on this?

I saw your post and had to go take a close look at my Gumballs....I do note have any of those marking on my set.

I don't collect balls, but I saw this today and don't know if it's new or not.

Big thank you to Rubiks Cube for taking care of the Raschig Snookers for me. Easily a favorite of all my sets.

How or what do you play with those balls with the letters on them?

Interesting collection. Thank you for presenting them.

Hi Meucciplayer.
Each ball has two letters. A/B, C/D, E/F and so on.

Here is a pic of the rules included with the set.

Actuslly these letter balls are available on eBay right now. Seller is accepting offers in the $20-$25 range. Let me know if you need any help

Thanks for posting the rules ChuckJones1967. Thanks for the offer to help but postage to Germany would make the balls probably 3 times as expensive plus customs would take another surcharge. But it is always nice to know what kind of rules people come up with. I like to play strange games every now and then. One example being "Baseball" with the 21 ball set.

I was curious to see if anyone had some info on balls like this below. It's an old 2 1/4" ball that looks to be made of clay, although I've heard the speckled stripe may be made out of other materials (at least with other similar balls). The grain of the speckles is finer than what I've seen on other speckled balls.

**just noticed a big white dot on one of the dice balls. I must have accidentally drawn on the image while trying to brighten the picture up. Balls are packed up now so the white spot stays!
What's the deal with the dice balls and the set of balls 1-5 to the left? Are they fancy casino and bumper pool balls or are there special rules for them?

I have been looking for a couple of years for a vintage 1 3/8” clay brown snooker ball
to complete a set.
If anyone has a line on one please pm me, I am seriously hunting (and have been).

Hi Mr.Poop

Here are the rules included with the dice balls. (In french) the game is based on poker and potting balls earns you the number that was face up on that particular ball.

Actually the dice set only comes with cue ball, 5 reds, and 5 yellows. I added the black ball and split the cost of another set with a friend so we could each have 7 reds and yellows.

The Bumper pool balls are new from Belgium. They are quite large at 61.5mm

Very nice! I'm going to have to brush up on my French now.

I was curious about the size of those Aramith Poker Pool balls. Are they 2 1/4"? I was talking with a seller in the UK who has these and believes they were only made in 2", but I'm thinking that was just for the UK market.

My striped pokers are 2" but I believe another collector on the Facebook collectors page has a set in 2 1/4" (search for "Billiard Balls Collectors Group on Facebook to join)

Does anyone have the background on this set? 15 different colors, no numbers or stripes. The balls past the black are the first 7 mixed with white to lighten the color, pretty clever!

I know a little about them. I've got a set. A guy was unloading a case of these on eBay last year. Supposedly, a newspaper ordered a case of these custom balls in brown houndstooth boxes from Hyatt for reasons unknown. I found an old Hyatt manager on LinkedIn who worked there during the time these were made but unfortunately, he had no info but did say they did quite a few special orders like this. Who knows. Here's the original shipping label from the case.

I had the same label, didn't know if these were a production set or not, sounds like they may be a custom order. Pretty cool idea

I'd really like to know what they were used for. The balls are pristine and have never been played.
